Default Atomic research engineers are a load of thieves.

I mean..REALLY?
Atomic research?

What more do we, as a country, need to know?

We know how atom bombs, nuclear fission and nuclear power stations work.

Yet these guys are taking £millions a year in salaries apparently finding out more stuff.

Like what?

Get one to tell you what he has discovered in the last ten years, when he's probably earned close to a £million.

He won't be able to answer. And want to bet they ALL have gold plated pensions, paid for by you and me?

Get rid of the lot of them, leaches and thieves.

< Tannoy call at atomic research facility, at the old folkes home >

"Paging Pete to NSR, Pete to NSR. Thread reply waiting"

Anyhoo, I thought all this lot was privatised....or funded by the likes of EDF (ahem, the French government )

Edit: Good use for a scientist would be finding out how to neutralise radiation. Or recycle nuclear waste.

Yeah what a waste when they could have just come on here and asked you the pro's and cons of using thorium as a new primary energy source.

I think what he is getting at is why pay them so much when a teacher could do it with a little instruction from alcazar for 70k a year....

Edit - although they probably wouldnt get very far because they would be on strike every two minutes

Anyone with some sense could do it, given the training.

Source: UK AERA.

You going to actually provide the source or just talk about it. 'Cus UK AERA is nothing to do with atomic research, in fact it's not a organisation at all I think you probably mean UKAEA...

He always gets his 'facts' wrong

UK AERA indeed, what the **** is that?

I agree that these Nuclear Engineers are exceedingly well endowed, as you claim. They operate in power you see? Power goes to their heads ... they are told over and over again that they are the leading Engineers in the world - and they believe it, it is the truth after all.

I do admire them - they have ensured that we can sleep well at night, that the bullies of the world will not pick on us (even though we are such a small nation), we punch way above our weight in the world due to these superb minds.

It was Teachers who started them off on their worthwhile careers and to those Teachers who they left behind in academia they say, "Thank you!" .... they say, "please enjoy your two payrises per year and your 23 hours a week labour" for you, Teachers, are special - you deserve to be treated differently to everyone else in the land.

The world class Engineers, working away for your safety during those days the Teachers are sat on far away beaches, say 'Thank You' .... please, do take 14 weeks holiday - you must need a rest from the 23 hour weeks ........

But, mostly, the Engineers would like to thank ScoobyNet for giving them such gems as Cocklinks, remapps and Gold Wheels ...... it has provided endless comedic value through the years ....

They are contracted to do 42 hours - not the 23 hours a week of a certain other profession.

National age or early? 'Cus I knew scoobynets demographic was primarily made of the 'older' generation but I didn't realise that old

So anyways in the interest of fairness, what was your former occupation (so we can all attack that). Or shall we just start pensioner bashing?

Have to say looking back at the first post, it's very much a 'every mans' understanding of nuclear research. The reality being like a lot of science, we're really on;y scratching the surface.

Yes....but the above simply shows that, despite being in FULL TIME employment, YOU are managing nearly 85% of the posts that I am....and I am RETIRED.

Thus, I CAN sit on here all day, but YOU are supposed to be in a worthwhile job (aye, right), and earning your money........LOL

I think your research has just shown YOU up stiff...not me.

Be nice.

I've had a look, 5559 posts. Shame I don't think they can be added.
