Default intro

hello all, just introducing myself as a new member. I own a Hawkeye Wagon WRX SL in urban grey, with PPP & Green Filter. replaced an Audi B5 S4 and no regrets at all. The only thing I miss is the 6sp box for high speed cruising. Wagon is in a different league on B roads which is where I spend most of my time. I tried a few saloons (Spec D, bugeye WRX STi PPP and WR1), a GB270 wagon and a basic WRX wagon. GB270W was great in many respects, but I wasn't keen on the sat nav, embroidery and graphics, although I loved the 6sp short shift, wheels & styling. Could not believe the premium this car commands over a WRX SL PPP, although I understand the great rarity value. Personal choice. Eventually had to discount saloons due to mad Staffie, but the WRX STi PPP put a biiiig smile on my face.
After much deliberation I have a few minor mods I want to make in advance of bigger work next year (turbo & associated items). Looking at front lip (HT Autos £90?) OEM Aero Splash Guards (£60 plus paint&fit), OEM s/s bumper plate (£60-80), new head unit (poss Kenwood DPX503U £190-249 with free fit) & front speakers (Alpine SPE17SF £129 plus fit), Bosch Aero or PIAA silicon wipers... If anyone has any comments on alternatives or low price sources let me know.
Also nearing 50k plus cambelt. Local main dealer quoted £480. Planning to go to Scoobycity in Loughborough for £320 all in. They seem like a sound outfit. If there's an equivalent nearer Cambridge I'd like to know, but I'm ex Leicester so going back for a day's like a holiday for me..

To sum up I'm well pleased with the car and am really looking forward to getting more out of it, especially now I feel I've learnt how to exploit the engine properly after years of the V6 biturbo Audi.

many thanks

Welcome.
Sounds like you've done some thorough research there!

A quick search found the speakers at a good price..
Buy Cheap ALPINE SPE-17SF Shallow Mount - Reviews UK
Wipers i would get from camskill..
Wiper Blades - ::

HT Autos is a good call re front lip, they have an ebay shop that sells cheaper than their website most often.
With regards to the cambelt, i'm sure Mark at Thwaites Developments (Warwick) charges less than that for cambelts. He has an excellant reputation, give him a quick call i'm sure he'll be happy to discuss costs and anything else your after.
Mark - 01926 403 889
Thwaites Developments - Warwick Subaru Specialists

I should add I have no alternative interest in the place, i'm just a very satisfied customer, as i'm sure many other on here are.

Hope this helps

Paul

Thanks a lot for that Paul, the speaker price was excellent. Will also go to Camskill for my PIAAs.. splash guards about to be ordered from main dealer at about £40 plus same for paint. Will DIY fit.

Funny how whenever I THINK I'm going to be able to spend some cash on the car something ALWAYS crops up.

Broken tooth + sick dog + wife's 60k service on her 1.4 Polo = skint Scooby owner. sob.

Never mind.
