Midlands Meet
#1
Guys,
I've hijacked this thread from the 22B BBS started by Graham Cowland who suggest's a get together.
Never one to disapoint ..... let's get it sorted.
I think it's best we meet on a Sat. or Sun. as there isn't much light now in the evenings.
OK, here we go, let me make a suggestion and then everyone can have their say as per usual.
SUNDAY 15th OR SUNDAY 22nd OCTOBER
MEET TIME :- 11am
VENUE :- CLOCK WAREHOUSE, Shardlow, Derbys.
I am sure we had a meet at the above around the same time last year. We can have plenty of head under bonnet time in their large carpark followed by BEER & Lunch if required.
We can also organise a little drive if people feel like it.
Right then, that's my good samaritan bit done, now get your names down.
Oh and by the way, I hear that the Midlands TypeR Owners Club may attend! <LOL> (Lock up your daughters )
Cheers,
Chris

I was just thinking the same as I was driving around yesterday
I was thinking of a bit further south though? Sort of Market Bosworth area? Give the 'West Mids' contingent more of a chance(even though Shardlow is spitting distance for me)
I'm up for it whatever - would be prepared to do a route if you like (althougth it's a bit boring around Shardlow)

Agreed that if people are travelling from Northants., West Mids. and Derbys. then Leicester area is a good halfway house.
I know of a Pub with a decent sized Carpark & Good Food/Beer (Ye Olde Bulls Head - Woodhouse Eaves, Leics). It's approx. 4 Miles from J23 (M1) so easily accessible from North or South. The Added Bonus is that it's right in the heart of Charnwood Forest territory providing some mindblowing B-road action.
So, are we getting any nearer to a final decision? The 22nd Oct. also looks favorite.
Vent your feelings below.
Cheers

15th would suit me better
as the 22nd has the Ford enthusiast show at Donno that i'm attendin' with my sister and her Ka (she has a place on their stand!)
anywhere near Nottm is fine with me though!

Wahey, we have progress!
Nice one guys, and Soula .
Sunday 22nd looks likely then (sorry Salsa, majority rules) and if there are no objections to "Ye Olde Bulls Head" in Woodhouse Eaves then I think we have a MIDLANDS MEET.
C'mon you Derby slackers (Mike, Jase, Ian)
Cheers

Yep...
22nd sound good enough.
Wow...have we managed to plan an event which doesn't coincide with another (remember the great wales / trax ***** up ... heheheh )
See you all there
Ian.
PS: I have decided it is time for another curry night...I am now immune to alcohol

Cool, 22nd is top jolly poo bum!
Graham.
29th is karting day!
Speaking of which, where are the Midland teams for the karting? We want a couple on 'invitational' teams as well now, so you don't need SIDC membership.
How about a Midlands Type-R team?
Come on lads, sort it out.
Stef.

Right then you rabble!
CONFIRMATION OF MIDLANDS MEET.
Sunday 22nd October
"Ye Olde Bulls Head" Woodhouse Eaves, Leics.
Meet @ 11am.
For those who want some tucker, I believe the carvery is open from 12pm. I will give them a ring tomorrow to confirm and also alert them that 20+ Scoobies will be invading!!
Cheers for doing the Map link Chris. Now for the finer details.
Come off the M1 at J23 and from the roundabout, head towards Loughborough.
Less than 1/2 Mile down the road, take the turning on the right "Snells Nook Lane"
Continue down the undulating "Snells Nook Lane" to the traffic lights/crossroads.
Go straight over the crossroads.
(Now comes the best bit as this road is a blast to drive! Be careful though as there are blind crests where the car WILL go VERY light). Follow this road to it's end downhill and turn left at the junction.
Continue for approx. 1/2 mile and you will see "Ye Olde Bulls Head" Pub on your right.
It should take you no more than 10 Mins. to get there once you have left the M1. If you want further clarification regarding the route then please drop me a mail and i'll try and sort you out.
Looks like it's gonna be a good turn out. All we need now is one of those blissful cold, bright and dry October day's.
Looking forward to it.
Cheers
Chris
p.s. The above obviously only applies to those coming off the M1. For us more local folk it's a mere B-Road Blast away!! LOL.

Chris,
Haven't been to one of these meets before, so can you tell me, is this a 'bring the missus' job or should I leave her behind? I'm only coming from Coalville so escaping shouldn't be a problem!
Are we going for a drive as well as to the pub? - Shame not to try some of those empty lanes out!
Cheers
Leigh

Guys,
Just been speaking to the Manager at "Ye Old Bulls Head". Should be no problem in accommodating 20+ ravenous Scooby owners and associates.
Pub & Carvery Open at 12pm. It's OK to park up in the carpark from 11am onwards, which we should have to ourselves.
Plenty of time for under bonnet exploration and a blast around the forest roads prior to re-fuelling in more ways than one!
Cheers
Chris
p.s. Leigh, by all means bring the other half, other owners have done so in the past. Don't blame me though when you hear "i'm bored, can we go home now" after 1/2 hour!! LOL.
