Thumbs up STOKE CONVOY TO DERBY...MAY 1st.

Ayup you ugly lot, I know we're on about Japfest on May 21st, but, how about we convoy over to meet the Midlands Scooby Crew in Derby on SUNDAY, MAY 1ST..................?

It's a good run over with a decent meeting point and we had a good turnout last time, plus the 20 or 30 at Derby.

What do ya reckon chaps?

1) Skoosh
2)

Could meet at Tesco Meir Park again, right on the A50.

Come on get your names down.

Si.

Not sure about this one, got loads on at the mo and can't guarantee I can make it, I'll let you know nearer the time.

I have put a link from the old stoke/shropshire thread to this one for you.

p.s. Hate to go one about this, but has anyone bought their Japfest tickets yet apart from me?
At this rate I'll be going down in a convoy of one, the tickets are selling quick, there are only 28 non-SIDC member tickets left!

Had a re-think and if my mate in Derby is up for a night out on the Saturday then I'll pop over and meet you at the pub the following morning - for a 'hair of the dog' maybe!. He only lives a couple of miles away from there.

Just to improve the numbers on Si's list

Evening all, well well well, I may not make this after all.

You will remember the situation last week when the wagon lost all the coolant!! Took it to Ian at Talbot garage and replaced the thermostat and refilled the system. I was told to keep an eye on coolant, I have been doing and for the last 3 days all seemed okay.

Went out in the car today, not particularly spirited run but noticed some leakage. I thought it may have been excess water that gets trapped inside splitter and undertray as I'd washed car.

Waited for car to cool off, checked header tank..................nearly EMPTY!!

WORSE STILL, I've noticed small air bubbles in the overflow pipe near passenger headlight and battery, I believe, from searching on here, that this signals HEAD GASKET failure...............BOLLOX!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna contact Ian tomorrow and take it back in if he's got time........it's not looking good though..............

I'll let you know how it goes.

Everything crossed.

Si.

Si, fingers crossed for buddy.

Wouldn't mind tagging along to this one, always enjoy a steady run along the A50.

Usually get a good turn out for Derby/Notts runs, so come on fella's get your name down.

Steve, is your car any closer to the road yet m8?

Hope it isn't the head gasket Si, I wouldn't fancy doing one on a scoob.

What was the work you had done on yours before you started having these problems?

Hi Si,

How did they fill the water after they put in the thermo? I poked a hose pipe into the block and filled the block and then one into the rad also. Even then i had to top up a few days later. Also it pays to pour in the water REALLY slow.
I have my fingers crossed that you have a air lock somewhere. Try leaving the car to idle with the header tank cap off for 30 mins. (though i expect you have tried all the obvious!)
Where is the water still leaking from? This could simply be the cause of the problem. Split rad? Header? Top and bottom hose (hoses can need replacing if they have been on for a while as the plastic distorts/splits where the clips have been.)

There's a thread been started in the Midlands section here if you want to add your name to the list to say that you are going. I think someone was trying to organise a group buy on tickets!

How's the car Si (skoosh)?
Will be in Stoke tomorrow and could possibly see about borrowing this kit off H's Dad to get rid of airlocks.

NIGHTMARE CONFIRMED..................HEAD GASKET ON WAY OUT........

Went over to Talbot Garage today, compression tests done, radiator cap replaced, no leaks externally anyway.

Booked in for head gasket replacement week commencing 16th May.

Can just about use car to commute and nowt else, gonna keep a very close eye on temp gauge and coolant levels until then..........not too depressed though, she has covered 115k and quite rapidly too............

Si.

ps: anyone know where I can get a good set of gaskets besides SUBARU?.

Skoosh would like to officially notify the stoke crew of his lack of attendance at this function due to a faulty head gasket.

I thank you.

SI.

************* HOLD IT RIGHT THERE ****************

I may attend after all , however, it may not be in the customary white T5 ice-cream wagon..........................It may be in a UK300

C ya.

For those of you that haven't been there before, there is a map and a few pics here

My suggested times / locations are:

The Shire Horse, nr A34/Beaconside junction, Stafford, 11:05 - 11:20am
Tesco carpark, Mier Park, Meir, 11:45 - 12:00
The Clock Warehouse, Shardlow, nr Derby, 1pm

If there are people coming from Shropshire you will have to arrange a location and time to suit. I will be in Derby that morning so will be meeting you at the Clock Warehouse.

It might be an idea if people state where they are meeting in case there is no point meeting at a particular location?

Shropshire?
