**** BE WARNED CAMERAS ****

A number of Gatso Cameras (counted 5) have been installed on the M42 between M40 junction and NEC, could be further but i turn off there to go home.
They wasn't there yesterday morning, took me by suprise. I imagine they will be switched on very soon.
Anybody know any more information about them?

I put a thread on NSR yesterday after my brother's Snooper picked them up whilst driving up the M42 towards Solihull junction from junction 3. There's even one hidden on the corner, as the M42 branches left from the M40.
They were all armed when we went by, and we saw a van get flashed by one too. It's a 50 limit up there, so people best slow down!

Well i got flashed by one of the M42 cameras today!!!!
Luckily i was travelling in lane 1 at an indicated 45mph (in the 50mph zone), so it was the chappie overtaking in lane 2 that triggered the camera. I estimate that he was going at 10-15mph more than me, so the speed threshold is rather low
Yesterday i counted SEVEN cameras in the M42 "roadworks", and EVERY ONE was LIVE
But when i drove from Solihill town centre to the A34, the FOUR GATSOs that i passed on a 30mph winding road through housing estates were all empty; which was also the case for the four cameras on the A34 itself (40mph zone).
So there you have it! Proof that exceeding the speed limit on a three lane motorway, with NOT ONE SINGLE WORKER around, is FAR more dangerous than driving like a nutter in a built-up area

tbh, i feel pretty uncomfortable doing even 30 mp/h in a built up area.
Having just been NIP'ed for doing 103 mp/h on an empty motorway i'm ****ting bricks to think whats going to happen, so i've bought myself a Road Angel now to make sure i don't get caught by another camera.

If its a 50mph speedlimit on the motorway then it must be through roadworks, in which case I don't think anyone can complain about it, the job the men do fixing the roads, although often done poorly and over budget, about 3 months late, it is a dangerous job, not helped by people driving at 90mph past them only 10ft away.
Mr.M, 103 on the motorway, hope you've got your excuses for the magistrate ready

Dave_A,
"...often done poorly and over budget, about 3 months late"
And this is the major problem
Why is our money being spend on a bad job???
Why, despite it being a bad job, does it go over budget??
And why is it always late (sometimes by several months) - which massively increases the time exposed to danger for the workers??
Oh, and during the last couple of weeks, i have not seen a single worker on the M42 (J3-J5) roadworks, so the 50mph speed limt on a three lane section of motorway is not currently justified
