Can any of you tell me what the area is like?
I'm from Leeds.
The car crime in Birmingham is worrying, espicially if I goto visit the in-laws im my EVO.

Put it this way, I used to work in that side of Brum. I got that paranoid of leaving the scoob there, I ended up buying a banger to go to work in!

Admittedly its very patchy, you can live in one street and no-one'll touch it, while in the next street its gone in 10 seconds!

No one's touched mine (yet), whilst a bloke who lives up the road got his wagon nicked at gunpoint!!

Forgot to say. Leave ya car at home and go by train or buy a nail but even that would probly get nicked.

They is not jokeing, Brum is pretty bad on car crime and in da Wood it would be a sitting duck. On the bright side it's not as bad as Chelmsly Wood.

Cool

To be honest, i reckon that Leeds is worse than Brum, although it all depends on where you go, and how you behave!

I went to Leeds University, and last summer checked out my old haunts. I was gobsmacked

My old street round the back of Hyde Park corner had almost become a no-go zone (including burnt out cars). Houses not only had alarms but metal gates over their doors and windows - where we used to live unlocked for much of the time (ah, the good old days of the early eighties).

Probably the same in any big city. I presume that you have already been around to your wifes place , so you will have a rough idea how good or bad it is? Take sensible precautions, don't draw attention to yourself, make friends with the locals and you should have no need to be paranoid.

What with the NEC, NIA, new mega-shopping-centre almost completed, the Black Country Museum, motorways to everywhere, air and rail connections, Welsh roads only a few miles away, funny accents, lumphammer, ******* and peas etc. - there are plenty of opportunities to have fun
