Ok, i've had a quick chat with charlie and although it may seem like it is a bit of a way away........it is!!
As a preliminary thing, we suggest that the Derby/Notts/Leics folk, meet at a central place and then we head up the country in a fairly direct manner (Maybe a charlie type detour on route ) I anticipate that the Midlands scoobs will account for maybe 30% of the NORTHERN BIG ONE totals
Can you let us know if you want to travel with the Midlands group by posting on here. Don't worry about a list, I'll sort that
Who's in? I also appreciate that the list will be VERY loose for now, Christ, I don't even know what i'm doing THIS weekend

Attu, you truly are a.......... anyways, hows about this for an idea?
Travel up on the Saturday and do a camping thing in Yokshire somewhere You know, travel up, do the BBQ and a few beers thing and then after some kip, leave in the morning onwards to the meet.
Just an idea incase folk don't fancy 3hrs driving, 3 hrs meet folled by 3 hrs driving . Also thought that it would make it more attractive for folk who are coming from even further south than us lot!
Voice ya opinions here and if there is enough support for the idea, then Charlie will check out what campsites we can over run nearer the meet destination.
Mikey & Ame & Charlie (That looks even MORE suspect )

Let's just concentrate on making this into a weekend rather than a day event

Camping.... haven't done that for many a long year. Wonder if my tent is still in one piece? Will have to look it out - I think it's in the shed with 4 wheels, an exhaust, a mower, a strimmer, a wheelbarrow, 10,000 dead spiders, assorted other junk.
Any B&Bs nearby?

I know of one of those too Tony - actually, come to think of it....
Mikey. That should be ok.. its quite a large place and we've had 30 tents / caravans there before with no issues
I'll get hold of the details and mail 'em to ya

I could be persuaded to do the weekend thing. Not sure if the missus'll go for camping tho' likes her creature comforts.
Might be able to tempt her if a B&B's on offer. Let you know nearer the time.

I am right in thinking it's at Light Water Valley aren't I? I reckon it's about a 2 hour drive max. Easy do it on the day rather than faffing about with camping. IMHO of course. I'll probabaly be there but can't be bothered with all this tents lark.

You miss the point entirely!
The Saturday would be a drive up by the most interesting & scenic route
The Saturday night camp is a way to drink & get to know other Scooby peeps without just standing in a car park sipping coke & staring under each others bonnets
Then not have to get up early to get to the meet and enjoy the day & not be too tired for the '2 hour' trip home'
(btw I usually get back from York in 1:15

We will have to drive up the morning of the meet as our soon to be arrival will only be 4 months old or so.
Then again if we havnt had any sleep for 4 months we could pitch a tent next to you lot and he can keep you all awake as well
TBH i think our only option will be to drive up pthat morning and meet you there.
