Default Budgie's "4x4 Off road experience day" at Cadwell

The driving gods that have shined so brightly upon Mr Peter Budgen for many a year thought they would have some fun with the maestro this weekend......

I distinctly remember him saying "Track day tuition, why am I booked on that, ah well Il pretend Im a novice in a big bhp car & ask the instructor when I should brake coming into a bend at over 100mph".............That may have tipped the gods over the edge IMO....

Here he is with the instructor about to go out in the wet...

Now I was not lucky enough to capture the event on camera but better than that I was able to spend a good while with the vetran instructor just as he came back in and all other organisers & instructors in their cabin.......

What transpired was an 80 mph spin...............backwards................throug h the fields................ending up facing the wrong way!!!!!!!! For further clarification & exact point of racing incident of where Mr Budgen came to rest his car, we have no other than the said Master Instructor himself describing the incident in glorious detail............................................ ...

The organiser, David Wolldall along with the other marshalls discussed whether to black flag him for the rest of the season............................................ ..

At which point I intervened & pleaded with them to take his progressing age into consideration when making their decision & thus they did not ban him from any further events......with the proviso that he should give his AP 6 pot brakes to myself, seeing as he doesn't know how to use them enough!!..................

Finally a photographic note/evidence was produced & recorded of exactly where he ended up, by the event organiser Mr David Woodall (ps that rubbish drawing of a scooby was not not my handy work but David's btw!) for future pis$ taking of Mr "driving guru" Peter Budgen at every event from here on in......

Yeah ok. First of all I dont know who put my name down for tuition in the first place, but the soaking wet track and the worn out 888's seemed the perfect time to have a lap or 2 with someone in the know.
And yes we did end up flying backwards at 80mph on the grass just after charlies corner almost down to the marshals post at Mansfield.
If I told you what the instructor really said you wouldnt believe me anyhow so I won't. But it certainly left my ego far from being bruised
Great day out with a fantastic bunch of friends.

Yes I suppose I did forget to mention that the instructor did think Mr Budgen & his blue Scooby was one of the, if not "the" fastest thing out there....
