Default Geo

Guys,

I normally go to Powerstation for geo but on a tighter budget than normal the next month or so.

I need the geo done on my car ASAP. Needs to be the best place possible for Fast Road settings etc. But not done by a bunch of **** at Kwik **** etc.

Misses hit a kerb whilst lgoing over a speed hump and feels a little iffy now to say the least. Something I have been meaning to get done for a few months anyway but this has forced me to act sooner.

Do Merit Tyres Group use te latest machines with John Bean settings?

Steve

Yes Hounslow Tyres, its about £55 for 4 wheel alignment inc camber etc using a Hunter alignment machine. Its cheap but they are not Subaru specialists or geared towards track, fast road setups etc. I would only use them if you have your own set ups, have some knowledge on the subject or are willing to take whatever setup, advice they give. Rich's price includes his expertise and various settings with these AWD cars specifically in mind. Plus Im sure Hounslow Tyres would be under more time constraints at £55. Therefore how long they will spend trying to overcome any inherent problems that your suspension may have is questionable.

What if Ricky you already have a print out of your previous fast road geomentry setup and you want to use those settings again in the next alignment. Would this place in Hounslow be able to do this. This is assuming nothing on the car has changed since the last geomentry. I'm having my front drivers side BC coilover replaced soon so will need the geomentry done again, so if I went with my printout which was also done on a Hunter machine would this be ok?

Protyre in Bushey did mine for a similar rate, but then I had to pay to have my wheels refurbed as well

A few places are around the same price, but the old anecdote of you get what you pay for is probably true

Given the cost, both WiM and FB are convenient for work

So just get normal alignment done, but Steve asked for fast road set up
That means you need to allow for toe and camber to suit the drivers needs

You know what they say guys you can't put a price on experience. Somewhere else might be a few quid cheaper but they are not going to be anywhere as knowledgeable on Scoobys.
Would take mine to FB every time.

I agree theres not better place to take the scoob to other than someone who specialising in it and knows the characteristics of the car. However, as my post above mentions, if you already have had geo done and have a printout surely you can take that to any local alignment garage and get them to match it. Unless there are reasons why you shouldnt please post.

In principle you are right, but when I took mine to Protyre with the settings I wanted I had to show the mechanics how to undo the front top mounts, somehow they managed to chip my wheels and when investigating a knocking a week later I discovered that they hadn't locked up my adjustable rear arms

You know what they say about paying peanuts
