I saw it come up but I'm trying to stop it stalling at the moment - might be going for a DV-less solution so no good for VF turbos - 16G is looking like the favourite option at the moment

I'd be happy to run no DV on a 34 myself mate? and it would obviously come a bit cheaper to you
Any air leaks round the pipe work mate?

Can't find any, changed the TB to see if it was the IACV too and Rich has had a look around. Strange one as it only happens if I dip the clutch and either coast or brake from 4-5k, when it's not boosting it's fine. Sometime the idle just hunts a bit, occasionally it stalls. Rich added an extra 100rpm to the idle and a bit of advance to try and catch it before the stall but no joy - still, I've learned to drive around it as I do 50-miles a day to work and back - will rip out all the inlet when I do the red hoses, TGV delete, new manifold etc...

If I could clear some of my junk and get some saving built back up I'd take your hand off, but other things need buying first - timing sucks

You will hit 350 on this one Jon I'm sure, she sailed 340 at 1.4 bar and went onto 354 at 1.5 bar with 340 lbs ft.
Whats good though is the uprated actuator holds the boost better at the top so not so much tail off.

You had some work do to flow your heads though which will make a difference. Tempted by some AVCS heads though, then more CC, it never ends but I've only one 40th and this means no iPad

how did initial ds get in there,
off the road for a year with a blown engine, punched it and repaired with filler and rattle cans the blew the box and sold it.

nice guy but serioulsly, idol.

i voted for jonmc as thats the way to do it, mod properly and subtly and looks as clean as it go's

Cheers for the votes guys. Got mine yesterday too

Tommy, thanks for the comments, if that's what you think I have done I have achieve my goals, subtle but very clean and tidy. I know the red flaps and whites wheels are bit 'wide-boy', but I didn't want so 'in-yer-face' that you felt you'd been tangoed

how did they choose the cars??, only wondering as knowing the history of initilal ds one on here, i dont know how they chose it to be an idol.

jon, its not about the power or cost of the build its the way you did it to achieve what you wanted and are still improving it.

maybe knowing some of the cars already from here swayed it for me but i enjoyed following your modding threads and seeing the results after respraying it. possibly as im modding my car like you over a long period of time to get the car i want.

maybe im just a scooby geek though,

I don't know how the shortlist them, but like reality TV, anyone can enter so if not many people have bothered or the cars are ebay chavtastic specials they may need to enter what they have - cynically, they may have their favourites and only enter 2 or 3 gooduns per round to ensure they get through and then some sheds that no-one will vote for

i did wonder, no offence to a few of the entrants but there are some dubious quality motors in there and a couple of excellent ones.

without blowing my own trumpet i think my car is better than most ive seen on there and i wouldnt consider mine of magazine/idol standards at all.

on the plus side your car is sure to go through.

Voted Jon and hopefully you will be TI Idol, you are make amazing job on your car and really looking at flash amazing

About the VF34,is great turbo for WRX and is possible make from VF34 nice 340-350bhp without the problem,AVCS will be nice, but your ECU can't control AVCS,for AVCS you will need aftermarket ECU or JDM WRX ECU which can control AVCS

Without the AVCS will be nice to drive with VF34

I think AVCS is only likely to happen if I need to strip the engine apart for something - hopefully I'm not going to need to do that. If I had a few more quid I'd have had your engine
