Mags my car wants to kill me advice needed
Hi Mags,
I've recently purchased a clk for the mrs. Instead of her being happy she thought I bought it to kill her!!!! Not the reaction I was looking for. Every time we take the car out it wants to do it's own thing and change lane, you can never relax and drive the car you always have to be alert and be ready for when it wants to change direction. It feels like I am arguing with the car which way to go. I have done some research and there is a condition called tramlining and to cure it there are a number of things but the most common fix is tyres. What do you think as your our guru on this. The front tyres are bridgestones with plenty of tread. Its really bad. Obviously I have stopped the Mrs from driving it. Playing my part as a good husband duty of care and all that. I put this up as a post for general feedback. Thanks

All four tyres should be the same make and model and evenly worn across the tread. Those with the deepest tread should be on the rear. Check pressures are correct.
Check/replace front lower wishbone bushes, then all other suspension parts and bushes as the slightest movement on the rear axle can give you unexpected rear wheel steer.
Then do a wheel wheel alignment.

The car has the newer clk wheels fitted from the dealer but wishbones bushes suspension everything checked all ok, the wheels are a slight bigger I think but when I changed the sti wheels from 16 to 17 there was no issues

the size as in 16 and 17 inch dont really matter its the width of the tyre in my experiance wider the tyre worse it it can be,also if the camber is out i had negative camber on my legaccy and it tram lined something rotten had the alignment put back standard sweet, but as maggs already said and someone else ball joints track rods, wishbones, all contribute towards it steve
