My 2.0 R Sport - JVC, Mats, Prodrive/Miltek fitted. Flaps Ordered.
Hi everyone im new here! only just signed up! Paid my £12 membership
ive had my impreza about 2 months now.
its funny really, never was a big fan of imprezas, always been an evo fan (sorry i swore lol) but when we had a T reg Turbo 2000 in work as a company car, i started using it now and again and got bitten by the bug and fell in love with it! the look, the noise, the comfort and the grip just gave me a buzz!
this was the turbo 2000, cat back exhaust, all colour coded sitting on new-age WRX wheels.
I tried to buy it, but as im only 22 had issues with insurance, i could get insurance, but not with the company i was currently with. and by the time by renewal was about i couldnt afford to buy the car at the time.
so anyway i looked at other cars, fiesta sts, clio sports etc. had my heart set on a mates civic type r but he later decided not to sell it.
one day i was on the net, thought sod it ill have a look at scoobys, and i found the car i have now
its no beast, but its a great start to impreza ownership i think, its my 1st and it wont be my last!
Its a 2006 2.0 R Sport, done 40K FSH and its very clean with a few nice mods to start me off.
So, 2.0 R Sport, Cat back exhaust, Do Luck panel filter, STI Rear spoiler, STI top spoiler, Roof Spikes, Red calipers, 18x8J OZ Ultraleggeras (which cost £1100 new!).
How it looks its basically how i bought it, all ive done to it is give it a full service with a Cosworth panel filter, gonna do Timing belt next week. I have stuck 4 brand new Toyo T1rs on it in 225/40/18s fitted some cheapy mudflaps to the front of it, just for now to protect it going through the lanes to work. planning on getting some rally flaps for it soon. I have also put my private plate on it, and given it a good detailing.
Last night i ordered some new STI interior mats, a nice key fob and a JVC KWR-400 Double DIN stereo. Im also on the brink of ordering TEIN S tech springs for it. Its in desperate need of lowering and a bonnet scoop! lol
OK, Its not a 400bhp flame spitting animal, but i think its a good start towards impreza ownership. All ive gotta go is get it to look smart and handle well and put up with the lack of power until i can insure a WRX or STi. well i say lack of power but i doesnt go too bad. Its 160Bhp and the fastest NA Impreza you can get.

Yeah the insurance wasnt that bad. Ive only got 2 years ncb and it was £1600 with priviledge but admiral who im with wont insure me.
And tbh it was getting on a bit anyway. It had done 121k. Although it still drove like new. I do quite a few miles so needed something low mileage the hawk has done 40k so will last me a while until i can get turbo! Lol already looking for one tbh.

That looks great!!!!
Just be very careful that you don't turn it into a money pit!
Now would be the time IMO to choose which Sti you want and then start stock piling parts for it that you can afford.
It's far too easy to spend £1000's on a model like yours making it look and handle just like an Sti only to realise in a couple of years you could now own 2 x Sti's for the cash you've spent.

Car looks sweet man, nice and clean. A good starting model.
Dont understand about your insurance though, I am 20 and this month I will be 21 and will renew my insurance and with my 2005 WRX STI Admiral have quoted me £1450

Stunning looking car you have there
Your postcode must not have worked in your favour I'm guessing? Like me- I'm also 'blessed' with anti-turbo premiums thanks to my postcode hence why I too own a sport! I wouldn't mind but I'm 25 next week with 5+ years no claims...*Grrrrrr* lol
As you rightly said, its a great first step into Subaru ownership!
Enjoy your car mate!

Cheers for the nice comments guys.
Ill post some pics up of recent mods asap.
I got the mats and stereo fitted up. Looks way better inside now!
Ive more recently replaced the crappy ebay exhaust which started to rattle with a lovely prodrive ppp backbox and mated it with a miltek non res mid pipe. Sounds the same but looks much better.
On the look out now for some better suspension. I dont wanna go too mad though. Im gonna gonna be buying expensive coilys or anything. Found some reasonable blob sti shocks and springs but trying to see if they will fit.
Trying to find a bonnet too, oh and serviced it last week. Timing belt next week before i drive to london.

Update:
Fitted the JVC Stereo and STi mats about a month ago. which has really tidied up the inside.
About 2 weeks a go the cheapy ebay type exhaust decided to die a death. crappy tailpipe welds had cracked causing the tip to rattle along with the middle section hanger snapping off and rattling. it sounded like a bag of bolts so i done a deal with a lad for a Prodrive PPP backbox which hadnt seen much use and then bought a Miltek unresonated mid pipe to go with it. Which fitted perfectly! Was worried about the 2.75" bore but hasnt seemed to have affected performance at all! thank god! lol it hasnt really made any difference in power but at least ive got a tidy system now.
also ordered performance creations STI flaps yesterday and im about to order some Blue Prodrive springs for it now. 2.0 R suspension is a tad wallowy!! lol
Im driving to London next saturday so gonna try and get the belt done this week and a coolant change to be on the safe side.
spoke to CVC subaru specialist the other day about getting the ecu software update done to stop hesistation at low revs but they are unable to do it as their equipment is out of date now so im gonna have to get in touch with Keith Price in Abergavveny to get it sorted soon.

Brand new blue prodrive springs ordered today along with timing belt kit. and ive spoken to keith price subaru about getting the ecu software update sorted and they have said that there is an update for it but its mainly for legacys and not sure whether it will work on the impreza but the said to pop up and see if it works, if it does its a charge of £44.40 inc vat. need to get that booked in soon.
