It's back!! API Engine build
Hi All,
Here are a few pics of my car after my eagerly anticipated engine build.
Pretty much everything is new, apart from the cylinder head casts.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to David and the guys at API, a true gent and ultra patient with me. I really cant recommend them enough.
Its running in at the moment, 900 more miles to go!!!
Andy.

if youve spent all that money on the engine, you might as well go rotated gt30-35.
also a 6 speed should be on your shopping list for that power. for a 12k build i would be expecting 550bhp +

It has a 6 speed box. Apologies, I thought I'd wrote that. I've added it to the list
Everything adds up quickly (turbo and clutch was £3,000), like I said, the cylinder heads (although had a lot of work done to them) are the only original part of the old WRX engine, everything else is new. Then of course there is the labour, mapping/fuel etc. £12k is about right
If you are after 550+, you need to look at pinning the block, or going down the CDB route. I'm more bothered about it being reliable. 450-480 is fine for the road.

At the mo the car has .9 bar boost and a 4000 rpm rev limit, but it'll see most things off even like that.
We are very pleased with the way it runs.

It's actually an APi developed Blauch billet using twin scroll technology. It was designed for my JDM 2.0 Hatch, but that is taking so long to get sorted out, that we have used it on the this build. First results are confirming what a good turbo it will be when fully mapped. We were having trouble holding it back when setting the run in map, the spool is phenomenal.

to start,i have to say again your build is first classyou will be ok running the engine in but when its mapped for full power the standard set up of the brakes and suspension will start to show there weakness, try to make them your next priority you would not want to stuff all that hard work and money through a brick wall.SJ.

The turbo is great (and ultra loud), I'll have to look into the brakes first.
I'm relocating to America in the later part of the year, so I'm in 2 minds on if i should take it with me, which is difficult, but not impossible or sell it.
I've had the car for almost 8 years now, so it's a bit of a tough one.

Part of APi's family too, it's been here best parts of 3 years.
We work even slower than Matt Clark
Seriously there was ' no hurry ' and we took that to mean ' No hurry ' .
AL02 has never once mentioned the time it has taken. Perfect customer in many ways.
