My uk 99 impreza
Love this car, its my first impreza and its the car for me. Was thinking of saving for a newer model, but newer ones might be bit more posh inside but weigh 100-150kg more. So wont it be best to tune and do up the classic, to make a faster road car.

De-tango is to remove the orange bits from the front - with the crystal lights you fit clear indicators and change the orange vent for a colour that blends with the car - black being obvious

Right get it. There is loads i would like to do over time. I was going to just use it and save for a newage sti, but on reading some books about imprezas, and seeing how heavy the newage are. My thoughts are wouldnt this classic make a fast road car.
Being a 99 car it has the better seats ,dash ect then the early classics, think it has a better gearbox too.
So my thoughts at the moment is making brakes better, fitting coilovers, then uping power to around 320.

TD05, VF34 or VF35 will make the power. 4-pots with uprated pads/discs would work, but for the money STI Brembos work great on classics given how light they are. My bugs is quite a bit lighter than standard - no ABS/Aircon, lightweight seats and no airbags - plenty more to do but it is hard work to get there.

Being a 99 car it already has 4 pots. Thinking of uprated pads and discs with s/steel hoses ,dot 5-1 fluid and rebuild calipers with s/steel pistons, should be good for road car.

Any of the turbos I've listed about plus the VF23 or the Andy Forrest TD04 - Hybrid. The last one would be ideal, retain spool but unless you buy new are difficult to get hold of.

You really dont like them , might have a debait going here. Dont yiu think the standard lights look dated. I just think it brings the looks more up to date. Not sure if there are more types of aftermarket lights out there.

but i would say 99.9% of people in a scoobynet debate will tell you they are sh1te.
it does nothing for the car other than ruin it, its a nice clean example leave it that way,sti rear lights would be an option and black wheels would look good but please no lexarse lights, wrc sticker kits or the other chav favourite a stick on roof vent

Nope, sorry, lexus rear lights are horrendous and the majority on here agree.
It's your car (and a very nice example from a fellow silver classic owner myself) but the lights spoil the whole thing
