Since I've had the car resprayed it's become a daily hack and it does get abused so over the coming weeks it's going to get some TLC. Part 1 today was to whip the wheels off and give them a real good clean and while I was there clean the arches, brakes and struts and use the space to lube up the drop-links...

All the wheels were pretty manky...





As were the wheel arches...





First job was coat everything in muc-off and give it a hose down with the pressure washer followed by a quick wash...








After that the wheels are still quit grubby...

 

Next was to get out the cutting polish - Garcela G3 in this case...



And give it a good scrub...



Then gave them a good going over with Meguiars 3-part paint treatment...



And the results, part 1 - paint cleaner...




And then parts 2 and 3 - polish and a carnuba wax...

 

Come up great those wheels Jon ! Whats muck off ? Is it a solvent based product ?

Despite the nice sunny pics, the weather did it's own thing...

 

Gave the brakes, ARBs etc the same 3-part treatment...

Includes a tyre dressing and a coat of poor boys wheel sealant just to finish them off

 

Muc-off is a alkaline based cleaner so I only use it when I'm going to re-treat with wax - it is quite mild but gets used mostly on my mountain bike

 

Super clean ....

 

Next week I'll give the whole car a clean and see how easy a weeks worth of grime comes off the wheels after this treatment. Got a few car park dings and stuff that need to be given a really good clean. I also need to decide whether to get the rear bumper resprayed again after a hit and run has left the painted cracked

The splitter has cracked paint too after clipping a kerb but I'm going to get a HVLP electric spray gun and will probably Plastidip that along with getting some HT Auto's under skirts and rear bumper lips

The week after she'll get an oil change

what did you use to lube up your drop links???
i had some cdf ones fitted a while ago and thinking i should do this soon

 

I used to use a silicon spray, but TBH giving them a go with WD40 every month seems to stop them creaking and banging but I have Perrin ones which are rose jointed - CDF ones have bushes so should be okay

Looking good Jon,nice to see a stunner being used not garaged for 3/4 of it's life but it needs that bumper sorting

 

Maybe some darker wheels

VF34, pinks, TGV delete and stack of red hoses sat in the garage ready to go with some other painted bits.

Trying to find a Varis style rear diffuser.

And then new rear discs and some BCs and fit the painted trailing arms.

There's more but the list could be a whole project thread.....

You wouldn't believe the chips in the wheels either from using it daily on some pretty cr4p roads

I'm also toying with fitting a WRC bonnet vent to draw heat from the rad so that will need matching if I do

Real dodgy bodyshop - wouldn't go back there again
