as said before the engines were very poor and suffered a lot of failures.
read this thread
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-failures.html
make sure it has the updated map as i think this help with the failures.
fuel wise they are crap like all imprezas around 20mpg,roadtax is the £450 plus bracket.
servicing isnt bad similar to most newish cars.

odd questions to ask though if you have already purchased, a bit late to be worrying about costs.
they are expensive no other words to describe really.

The map is one of the big problems with the 08 and running to much power on standard internals, had mine mapped as soon as I got it as was not convinced with the OE map (even the revised OE map) and its been fine and drives great.

Best car I've had, Subaru should be able to tell you if its had any warranty work if you give them then VIN.

dont listen to all the negative people on here, they're just jealous lol

my engine went at 4500 miles, rebuilt under warranty, now on 24k

ask the owner/seller on the history of the hatch, ask if its had an engine replacement, if its a dealer ensure you get a years warranty on it with them to be on the safe side (i beleive this is the law any way but get it in writing to be sure)

its the best of the 4 scoobs I've owned and my 3rd year of owning it is up soon, i have to trade in or sell up, or keep it - this is the first one I have not wanted to let go of!!!

I must admit that it needs the PPP and some uprated springs

I hope this speaks well of what you are getting yourself into and the joy you will have

p.s. remember the tax is HIGH!!!!!

I average 25-27mpg with plenty of hard right foot

bundles more internal room then any other impreza

Hi Jay

Yes mine is an 08 and I bought it from a dealer (not main) at 1 year old and it had 5.5k on the clock, at about 10k I did the follwoing and had it mapped by Dynamix:

PPP backbox
desreonated center pipe
2nd cat removed
Cosworth filter
Zero sports intake pipe

Now has about 23k on the clock and I love it, mpg wise, well I use it for the school run so about 20 1.5 mile trips a week which kills the mpg and returns 18/19, however on a motorway run at 70 I average about 31/32, had it upto 36 but thats no fun!!!!

Tax is a PITA but then any car I would consider driving will be that, insurance is good value and servicing is no dearer than anything else on the road.

All in all its great value for the power and spec, best thing is you never see another on the road so pretty exclusive, many people on here hate them as they are not true to what Subaru have been in the past, but everything has to move on, and the fact its a hatch makes its massivley practicle!

My only bit of advice would be to get a custom map on it as soon as you can, have a look at the 08/09 thread, loads of advice on there.

Cheers
Arron

as Arron & mark mpg not bad i use mine every day for work getting around 27/30 steady away

we use mine as family car if we go any where & is spot on loads of room for kids stuff

tax is higher bracket but if you r useing car every day you get your moneys worth rather than sitting garage but like any car these days they r all to tax & run

mine had remap after rebuild at which time i fitted forged pistons to make doubley surer it was bullet proof

plenty of folk knock hatch but uve got to move with the times or like dinosours you die out !!
