Talking Job on!

The oem subaru boost gauge arrived and although I'm chuffed and the kit is extremely comprehensive save for the instructions, I'm thinking yes it's still gonna be a bit of a job.

Any help with regard to installation? Not sure whether to pay someone to install it!

Have trawled the net however just unsure as to the exact connection point of the wiring looms in the car

Cheers

Tommy

Happy New Year btw scoobynetters

I would, aftermarket ones are straightforward enough so I can imagine one designed to fit should be a piece of cake

Aye just had a proper read up and the only question outstanding is the plug and play lead! Not had a good look under the steering column yet ; )

Longest job will be digging out the foam in the firewall to get the connector through, assuming it will fit through and making a custom mount so the gauge sits at the right angle on the column without obstructing the main clocks. Good piece of kit noticed on the transducer the words "Defi" though! Just paying extra for the Subaru emblem and maybe the lead!

Ok so this is a pic of the wire harness now I'm guessing the female end is to serve an additional gauge and the male end plugs into by the ignition as opposed to the clock/radio area.

Could anyone kindly clarify the location and exact fitting of plug.

Cheers

The harness shown looks like its an interupting loom, basically you unplug one end from the switch/accesory and fit the loom in the middle and it takes a splice of power from it.

looking at the harness, it looks like it plugs in to a loom around the fuse panel area but dont quote me on that. surly the instructions will tell you where its location is ??

Thanks Rob. I initially thought that it was plug in plug out but the more I look at the Japanese instructions it appears it could just even plug in and the spare adapter is for the oil temp gauge, sounds to simplistic I know!

I have trawled IWSTI, NASIOC and the Subaru tech pages but only the English manuals for the spt style gauge and wiring off the clock cluster.

Thinking could it just wire off the radio however instructions does illustrate from ignition area (but not clearly, obviously!)

The part number is for the gauge is H5017FG000. I cannot find the PDF of the jap instructions to post up!

Dubious about just plugging it up under the ignition area. Will have a proper root around tomorrow round the ignition, have noticed a white block connector just hanging down round that area. Or it's the white adaptor which plugs into the back of the fuse board.

Ok so found the english manual for the subaru oem boost gauge!

http://www.defi-shop.com/media/rg60_...ual_1109_e.pdf

However the question over harness plug remains as the manual above is of course not Subaru specific so a bit more digging in the car and on the internet should clear it up with any luck.

Cheers

If I get chance tomorrow, I'll pull some internal panels from my car and find that plug location and take a photo for you mate, I'm nearly certain its located around the top of the fusebox area, maybe located on a relay.

I've had a look around the fuse box area for the possible connector for your loom to plu into, Now the only one I can see is up behind the brownish coloured fuse panel, looks like you would undo the harness connector and fit that one you've listed in place in between if that makes sence. If you could email me a copy of your jap instructions I'll run through them for you

Thanks for that Rob. I'll get the instructions scanned in.

Unclipped the side panel and had a root around but nothing I could see that would match however it's very likely I haven't looked properly!

Thinking is it possible that the lead could be a red herring as its JDM supplied.

really you need to remove the whole under dash panel so you gain better access to the fuse box. that lead should fit I'm almost certain it should

9 yrs on the OP hasn't logged onto the forum for more than 3 years.
But to answer your question, if you know where the "OP (output) connector" is situated, it's basically plug and play.

You could probably mount it else where but side airbags may need to be taken into account

Have you been communicating with Fivos ??

For MY08 Imprezas onwards plus other Forester (MY09 (SH) onwards) and Legacy ( as early as MY03 onwards?) models

The OP connector is where Subaru bring the main feeds that are used for "add ons" out to a single 15 pin connector.
For JDM all 15 outputs are used
For UK/Europe only 8 outputs are wired
For US - not fitted

UK

If it hasn't been used it usually sits up behind the fuse box taped up with pink tape as shown here

Usually you would need to buy what translates from japanese as a "goodwill connector" to save splicing into it
All 15 pins are fully wired through (so you can daisy chain if needed) but only the 8 listed above brought out for use as bullet connectors.
Current part number H0077AG021

There is now a version that has all 15 as take offs but not much use for UK cars.

Below lists the complete 15 JDM available pinouts/outputs * only the first 8 applies to UK cars

* for H0077AG021 Pin 14 is wired as well and labelled BKUP +B

For Subaru UK Pioneer satnav upgrades fitted (MY11 onwards?) Pioneer do their own version specifically for their needs to tap the three extra inputs the sat nav required.(comes as part of the fitting kit)

I've also fitted the JDM auto folding mirrors and auto lights/semi auto wipers using this OPconnection plus feeds for my Angel eye DRL's

HOWEVER all the above is the back story as the boost gauge this thread refers to comes with, (I believe) it's own version "goodwill connector" as shown below (leftside of picture).

Just seen this thread.
Don, Phil has bought it
Thanks for clarifying here about its fitment
Yes it comes with its own goodwill connector.
For some reason I can't post a photo of it here.

The 330s, I believe, comes with the factory fit Sat Nav system (?) so the OP connector may not have been needed to connect it up as the required connections are already in the wiring loom.

Whereas with just Audio H/S they are not.

It just shows the integrated connections with a factory fit sat nav.

Just follow the pictures in the installation instructions........

All the details should all be in the fitting instruction sheets as well as where to mount the pressure sensor as the wiring loom supplied will be made location specific.
