that's mine with the gold FMIC, thanks for the compliment, understand not everyones cup of tea.

Black on black will look cool, very stealthy. Make sure you powder coat it mate, not spray it. Spray paint will last a few months only before chipping off.

I've seen a few on here and all look stunning

Black front mount if you want to go stealth eggy.

Keep it standard if you don't want to have to keep painting it every year too

After mucho prep, 2 coats of acid etch primer and 2 coats of satin black, here she is.

Quite pleased as it looks way better than before in my opinion

How does painting it affect the thermal properties of an intercooler?

Anyone painted and then noticed a difference in intake temps?

Technically black is a better colour for absorbing heat and thus the cooler rejecting heat, so should work better. However we would never actually notice as the differnce would be microscopic id imagine.

Painting is fine so long as you do not layer up the paint on the cooling fins. My fin area has been literally dusted and thats it. Painting the fins too much will insulate them and the cooler would be les efficient.

Well, black body radiation.... black is a better colour for absorbing heat, but it's so thin a layer of paint that the net effect is negligible.

No ! It'll be fine, honest !

Trust me I'm an Engineer.... LoL
