carbon bonnet pictures

I was just guessing based on the front grille/bumper and that the vent holes looked wider than they were long. (tho the vents holes probably are as you have that large surrounding piece around the outside that i forgot about.

It is a 1998> bonnet, £550 approx but discount 4 group buy.
Either contact me by Email or micheal the importer on 01634 250811
He also does rear wings and other goodies .
He mainly sells parts VW and Honda but with my car avalible to play with, he is testing parts for quality as its unknown until they are imported and seen in the flesh as to how good they are. I'll be sure to give both you and him an honest review.

Have you got any pics of the underside?
Is it just a skin, or a complete lightweight bonnet?
From the pics it looks like one sheet of carbon fibre was used to make the skin, which if it is, I'm impressed!
Also one more thing, for now , is it palin carbon fibre of a carbon/kevlar mix?

Hmm, tasty...
Now, how about a proper WRC replica one for a bugeye? Y'know, with that great big vent in the front and a decent sized scoop...
I'd certainly be on for that

Just another question or two i thought of.
How can we be certain that the carbon won't go yellow or burn off in the heat of the engine? (bearing in mind bike carbon cans get burnt off) also they get brittle.

Im still waiting for an answer as to the materials used in the bonnet.
The weight of it (according to the box it came in) is 8kg net, 10kg gross.
There is a skin avalable from the same company which is lighter as its not got any frame work, but has to be pinned on so is less practical for daily uses but if any one is interested contact me.
Hope im answering all your questions clearly as i don't want to mislead anyone.

With regard to the heat issue, I am currently working on a mould for the MY93-96 bonnet and have been experimenting with various carbon/GRP mix samples I have made up.
I had one of these samples fixed to the underside of my bonnet directly above the engine for about 4 weeks, didnt notice any ill effects.
I will post my findings once I get the first bonnet done and test it out.
Cheers, Rob.

Here are the group buy prices
5 bonnets £500 including postage.
10 bonnets £475 including postage.
(postage is to uk main land, outside can be arranged)
Hows this? Comments please!
i've just put on the scoop and it was straight forward.
I had to drill the 6 holes which retain the scoop but they are already marked out on the bonnet so no guess work required.
Fitted well with no gaps around it.
i will post picture 2 morrow

Tim
it is a complete bonnet i think the frame is fibre glass,
It has all the nuts moulded into it, so its a case of swapping over the latch and rebolting the hinges.
AS to the mix i dont know but will as micheal(the supplier) today. Any questions willingly answered as i dont know to much about cabon fibre as a material.
Rob
ChristianR please contact micheal at impossible@cwcom.net about the bonnets as he would like to know more.
thanks
Rob

Just got a call from micheal at im possible performance with some answers .
1 the bonnets are carbon only no kevlar
2 the frame is 40% fibre glass 60% polyurathan resin.
3 the weight is 12lb
4 a skin is avalible at 6-7lb but is liable to crack
5 vents can be made, so i've sent him some pictures of them.
6 a bug eye bonnet is avalible.
7 hope this is ok as if i spend much more time on the computer tonight my wife of under 1 year and 3.5 month old baby are going to kill me.
