Those nuts have a socket that fits in the middle of them instead of a socket going around them.

 

They tighen from the inside of the nut.

pretty much any material, as long as it is prepared and sealed properly then it would be perfectly ok and of course easily do all the angles and corners

thats no problem, same process as the head lining
