Default Homemade cold air kit pic's

For my brothers 06sti i made a cold air kit using a hks hpf & large maf adaptor pipe and some 70mm pipe..
The hks filter DOES fit in the wing with very little trim of the back plate to the headlamp in the wing also i had to adapt the abs mounting bracket to lower the abs unit 4mm (anymore and the brake pipes will sit on the inner wing!!) also note that it fits even with the fmic pipe work also in the wing.
here are some pics any comments/views welcome'd ...

The MAF mounting point is very near a big bend which will allow turbulent air flow.
Has its response been recalibrated since this work and is it a stable voltage at idle?

A more ideal location would be on the straight as per other CAI manufacturers.

Otherwise a neat installation.

I see. What intake layout did it replace- another CAI?

I would still be rather wary that the air flow vs voltage response has altered with this mod and get it checked out.

it was tha same filter but on a 35deg bend inside the engine bay facing towards the turbo/heat it was done before remap as vf35 was also swapped for vf34

I'm in the process of doing this on my classic Type R too. Will be running Simtek so no Maf.

I will change the air feed hose to a 25 degree silicone hose as soon as my supplier gets them. That hose is a bit on the thin and soft side.

The FMIC pipe is only rerouted a bit. I drilled a hole in the body where the water spray bottle used to sit.
