Default STI wagon, couldn't help myself.. before & after too.

Bought this (couldn't help myself) last saturday, they are such good value and I love a wagon.. Only want it for a few months while I modify my Evo 6. It's a 1994 STI wagon, 1 of 200 made, still has CDB block etc. Engine sounds amazing, even from cold it's quiet as a mouse and pulls pretty well, start to wonder why I need any more than this car.. it cost me less than the few bits I've bought for my evo recently

Done a few bits already inc servicing (oil & filter, fuel filter, new brakes) decal removal (inc a bit of lacquer off the door in a keen moment saturday night.. pre hairdryer impatience) Also resprayed the bonnet vent, removed the tiny momo wheel (that was sprayed gold and silver!) and fitted a standard early STI wheel, removed the 'collins performance dumpvalve' and fitted the standard one, removed the really nasty induction kit and fitted a standard airbox with HKS triple layer filter.

Before..

Today..

Next on the list is to repair the front spoiler, then I need to decide what to do about the front end.. it's got V3/V4 headlights and grill.. so it's either fit original headlights and grill or get a later bonnet. To be honest I'm swaying towards the bonnet as I really like the front end look in the flesh. The spoiler was on my 'list to go' before I saw it but think it'd look great all tied in with later bonnet, other part of me thinks put it back to standard look.

Looks ace mate, uve done a great job bringing it back to that level. Think you should ditch that splitter like you say and go for the 3 piece STi one to tie everything in together.

Thanks gents, I'm happier with the way it's looking now.

Certainly is...

Also has original closed deck block engine, water spray, STI intercooler, sti badge on PS cover, STI interior, STI wing badges, TD05 Turbo (wrx wagon has td04) hand crafted by STI badge on boot window. Only thing removed is the large WRX STI sicker on the bootlid but I'm not sure I want to shell out £40 for a sticker!

One of the previous owners put the lights and grill on, they don't really fit right with the early bonnets, can't decide whether to fit standard ones or get a newer bonnet to match.

well done that man you have just turned something into a beauty from a beast. lol. i really like the complete facelift front end, bumper as well but i'd probably put the early lights and grill back on as i'd wanna keep it near original as its a bit of a rarity. do what you want though mate as not everyones the same.

cheers. I actually already have a set of early lights from my 1st impreza 8 years ago, the hard thing to track down is an STI grill as they are all grey. Normal WRX grills are colour coded on the bottom slat.

One here but the price is way over the top.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Impreza-WRX-ST...item2a039d382d

Wonderful That looks much better

Considering its one of the few "version 1" sti's, I would try and get hold of the original bumper etc, and lose that front splitter... nice clean car you have got there

F*ck me, nice save! Whoever did the chavving on that wants blowing away. Keep the pre facelift bonnet IMO and get the original lights, they will cost peanuts.

cracking motor and an even better restoration job (any pics of the steering wheel I bet that has to been seen to be believed )

IMO; lights and grill back to standard, bin the nasty splitter and replace it with a proper 3 piece v4 type

Good to see everyone agrees with my efforts.

I got the STI centre cover for the steering wheel today (the carbon look bit with STI) as I was missing that from the olds sti wheel I've used. I also bought a grill yesterday (all grey) so will be trying the original headlights and grill back on at the weekend if I get time. Oh and a mate offered me a 3" decat downpipe for a price too good to refuse.. looks like I'll be unleashing it a bit

It's alredy got equal length SS headers but currently on completely standard turbo back exhaust system. I have a straight through centre and magnex back box here, may also try the decat DP and centre with the std STI back box.

The car deffinatley has a 'chip' in it, whether it's a generic one or a board that's been mapped I don't really know but it certainly can't be standard because it pulls to well considering the stock exhaust system. I'll open the ecu case when I've got 5 mins and check. The previous owner did tell me it has been remapped but then again he also advertised it as having '360bhp' lol

Cheers gents.

Grill arrived today, took a gamble that an old 'normal' impreza grill would be the same all grey finish... it was So just going to swap the badges and then I can fit the original headlights and grill this weekend.

Exhaust and new pads going on tomorrow, then grill and lights. May also get a few mins to start the repair on front lip, I've thought about ditching it but it adds a lot of depth and an aggressive look I like in the flesh. Will update pics later in weekend.

My poor evo is sitting unloved in my garage waiting for some bits to be fitted but I'm enjoying the budget motoring at the moment
