Default K Sport 8 Pot 356mm Brake kit

Coupled with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, Goodridge braided Hoses & Dot 5.1 fluid. Can't wait to get these bed in and see how much improvement there is with braking.

After selling the brembos there wont be much in it cost wise over the PF discs and pads. So decided on these. Nerr, just ds2500s on the rear, that should be enough.

Don't know how good they are yet, as still bedding in.

It doesn't matter which way the grooves go it's the way the vanes in the discs go that counts.

Simple, you look at the edge of the discs and see what angle the vanes run at.

The vanes are meant to draw hot air away from the hubs and thus need to be at the correct angle to do so.

I was told the vains should draw cold air in not hot air away, I've fitted mine so bringing cold air in.
Does anyone have an official answer to this as when i fitted mine I looked it up and the answer then was air in

That is an official answer from someone that's worked in high end motorsport for over 25 years. (not me I hasten to add).

That's not to say that they wont work that way but they offer better cooling if the vanes draw hot air out.

I asked the same question when I bought my Stoptech Brakes.

Gaz have you bedded these in yet? If so what are they like compared to the old Brembos?

I'm assuming those are the 300mm version you have?

nicely, under 17's?

it does matter which way the discs go, the vanes want to be pointing to the front of the car, as if to scoop the air in as oppsed to dispell it. i fitted my fronts the wrong way round to start with.

So we have 2 people saying the opposite thing here, no wonder its so hard to get it right when fitting parts.
Anybody have proof to which way they should go and don't want to swap them to have to swap them back again

well if theyre pics of the fronts, theyre fitted correct and the Vanes are going the correct way. The GROOVES are meant to look like theyre going the wrong way, meaning the vanes are going forward.

They wont 'not' work if theyre on backwards, but they wont be as good at dispelling heat. AK ran ksports with the discs backwards in TA09 and he had issues with his discs, that was on a skyline though

I'll say this once more. The vanes need to scoop hot air away from hubs not cold air in. If hot air is scooped away from the hubs that hot air is replaced by cold air. If you are scooping cold air in towards the hubs the hot air has nowhere to go and heats the "cold" air up.

Answers from people way more knowledgble than I'll ever be.

dont use grooved discs but understand air to be ducted away from the centre to remove heat. in all applications i see for racing/ nurburgring the inner part of the groove enters the pad first, ime no expert but its how ap racing say the internal vanes are set so would seem to be the wrong way round on yours. it would be easy to test with two hard stops from max and measure disc temperature each way round as if the grooves work then one way has to work better? would love to know.
