Hey guys, I've had an annoying rattle for a while now. More of a 'buzz' than a rattle, but yeah......kinda got used to it and learned to live with it.......but today I was taking my intercooler off (for something else) and just happened to notice this...........



Any idea what it is?? It looks like some kinda heat shield to me? I only thought there was one heatshield near the turbo tho, not another one underneath aswell?

Should the hole I've circled red be attached onto the same bolt that goes through the hole circled yellow? Surely it shouldn't be just free in mid-air like that?

On the subject of being free in mid-air........



This is quite a strange photo, might take a while to get ur bearings! It was taken from underneath the car, looking up at where the downpipe curls to meet the turbo. See the bits I've circled yellow? They look like bolt holes? But there is nothing anywhere near them that they could possibly be fixed to??

Should this plate even be there at all?!?

Yep is your turbo heat sheild and all pretty std.

Usually butchered when a 3" exhaust is fitted and a bitch to refit so is usually left or removed completely.

So it's quite often left like that then? I can't even see how to take it off from where I've looked so far

Am I probably best leaving it on?
