i wouldnt bother mate. it doesnt look right and if its done simply for function then the standard scoop works fine as it is. id spend your money elsewhere on the car.

must be a red thing...

When I had the car on the rollers last year, the guy doing the dyno said having the bigger scoop really helped in getting air onto the i/c, where the smaller scoops were struggling to cope with the heat.
Each to their own, I didnt initially like it (was on the car when I bought it) but it has grown on me somewhat

makes naff all difference unless you have an 03> TMIC as the earlier ones are too small to benefit from a big scoop

still if you like it

As I said, guy at the rolling road said it was a big help, and not being an engine tuner myself, I'll go with what he said. Each to his own

dont understand how ppl say it looks **** and too big for the car

if you think its too big for a classic its got to be too big for any scooby......

mine was fitted when i bought the car and i like it, its different and looks more aggresive than standard ****y one.

this forum reminds me of the honda del sol forum i'm on where if you as so much change the cars looks in anyway they get all **** about it

where i stay there are so many scooby's they are gettin as common as corsa's and saxo's if they all looked the same it would be pretty boring.

so my car has a big scoop, dump valve, induction kit and did have afterburner rear lights...............guess i'm barry

Not at all.It was specifically designed for the blobeye STi because thats when the much bigger top mount intercooler was introduced so they had to find a way of getting as much air into the bigger i/c as possible. The whole reason a genuine 2003> STi scoop doesnt fit on a classic is that its specifally designed for the slightly bigger bonnet.Putting a huge scoop on a car with a piddly little tmic is a waste of time and barry as ****

HTH

not arrogance...............FACT

fwiw when i say piddley i mean considerably smaller than the 2003> STi one (which is what the scoop is designed for)

back to you

but scoop still sits same height off the bonnet on a classic as it will the sti 8, we aint talking about 'function' of the scoop

the scoop is the same size but fitted on two different shape of cars, size difference between the two cars cant be much so how it can look too big on a classic but not on the sti 8??

dont get me wrong i have seen some **** looking sti 8 scoops on classics that look cheap but whats wrong with the pics above??

scoops are different sizes. The replica isnt the same height as the genuine thing nor does it do the same job.The classic bonnet is smaller than the blobeye for which it was designed therefore looks daft. Its like these fools who put roof scoops on without the hole in the roof

This is just my point of view others may disagree (but i doubt it)

i think it all comes down to personal choice, but if function was my main objective, surely this thread would be about intercoolers????? i just think they look good imo

I am facelifting my classic and plan on fitting one of these scoops in carbon.

I have an fmi fitted so function clearly is of no interest to me, in fact it will decrease performance, just like filling your boot full of speakers and amps would!!!!!

Some love it and some hate it, just like the gold wheel thing. Personal choice, I like it, although not in red lol!!!

No need the massive scoop looks crud.

Even the standard scoop doesnt look that great. Best solution? Bin it all and get a FMIC, with a reverse scoop, sorted, looks good and (more importantly) functions mint too

or better still get an FMIC and leave the standard scoop on as the reverse scoop is as bad looking as the oversize one

im not trying to be controversial honest

Don't like STI8 scoops on classic's at all just IMHO.

If i was gonna fit a bigger scoop on a classic i'd go for the STI7 style, looks similar to the facelift scoop but about 25mm taller.
