Hi i will point this out before anyone else does but caps lock is like shouting, can you please not use it?

I run an MY99 type R, they are good cars, there are plenty of type R owners on here, and if looked after or a good example, they are very good and very reliable.
Dodgy servicing, bad modifications and bad fuel are the main problems that cause these to go wrong

Agree with Tony as I was a previous owner of a V4 STI Type R owner. They go like stink mate with the short shift gears. Mine was only pushing out 315 bhp but that was quick enough in that.

If you dont know what to look for dont worry the first genuine type r buyer will point out what should be ! Be warned only the best examples are worth trying to retail tend to be enthusiast market .

N.b.. Sell a warranty package with it

Great cars..( Best version Subaru imho) Always looking to buy them.
Owned loads.sold loads..repaired even more...

Look out for Headgasket problems, piston slap and notchy gearboxes, the best ones to go for are standard non modded ones, I picked my Type R up in Jan with 40k miles on the clock with full dealer history from new for just under £7k however it was one of the best examples being a grade 5

They will last 100k plus miles if maintained properly and mapped for uk fuel - the same as any JDM car
