looks like a 1.6 according to the black slats at the back
Ive heard varying opinions, but it seems that most prefer the 1.6.... as there isnt too much of a difference in performance. Is this true? My unlce once had the 1.6, and he loved it, really regretted it when he sold it

Gearbox comparison...
Five-speed, all indirect, with synchromesh.
upto 1990 BE1/5 Reverse next to 1st, 1990 on BE3/5 1990 onwards
1.6 Ratios (mph per 1000rpm): 1st 3.31 (4.9); 2nd 1.88 (8.6); 3rd 1.36 (11.9); 4th 1.07 (15.2); 5th 0.87 (18.7). Final-drive ratio 4:06:1
1.9 Ratios (mph per 1000rpm): 1st 2.92 (6.2); 2nd 1.85 (9.8); 3rd 1.36 (13.3); 4th 1.07 (16.9); 5th 0.86 (20.9). Final-drive ratio 3:69:1
Clutch is a diaphragm spring, single dry plate and cable operated with a 200mm diameter drive plate.

If my memory serves me right the 1.6 model weighed in at 875kg and the 1.9 model 905kg. So for the 15bhp extra in the 1.9 model you had a 30kg deficit, but more torque, a longer ratio gearbox for cruising, and rear disc brakes. These are the reasons I went for the 130bhp 1.9 model over the 115bhp 1.6 model.
