Well at 94k miles the engine finally let go on the 17th July, not even the slightest notice given and until then the car had been as good as gold. In fact I'd driven 90 miles to work already and pulling out into a roudabout off the M5 the engine sounded like a bag of spanners. Had the car recovered to API. The turbo blades had shattered and the bits managed to get through to the engine. It needed a full rebuild, new turbo and 5th gear had been crunching at high revs for the last couple of thousand miles so the gearbox needed reconditioning too.

Had always promised myself a few upgrades whenever the car finally needed a rebuild. So after some consultation with David, I went for the following

- Wiseco pistons
- Race tri-metal crank bearings
- API steel rods and crank
- Ported headers
- TD05-20g Turbo
- ARC top mount intercooler
- Nismo 550cc injectors
- Rebuilt gearbox
- 3" Revolution exhaust (good flow, but nice and quiet!)
- Remap

I picked the car up on the 23rd August having raided the piggy bank and the running in started with a rev limit of 4,000rpm. On the 10th Sept it was properly mapped by Pat. Still to have an odd clutch problem fixed in a couple of weeks. But feels good to have the car back again, and I'm smiling again like on the day I first drove it

Basically, my definition of "noisey" and David's are not entirely the same. Got there in the end though and the Revolution Exhaust is very understated and means my neighbours are now no longer progressing a civil action.
