STi UK vs P1
#5
Never ever thought I would be saying this but sorry guys this STI is growing on me fast, IMHO it looks better than the P1 from these pictures. In the flesh, on the track well I need some more convincing for that.
I would have an STI NOW if it was not for that post saying Prodrive are working on updated body panels for the MY03 and also I reckon the best is yet to come - STI uprated version or STI8 perhaps with some tweeking. All this STI mania has really given me something to think about. Hmmm did I really say it looked better than a P1!!!, I think I am just a frustrated and confused MY00 driver. HELP

As I've said before I've been informed by a good source, Prodrive will NOT be facelifting the STi in 2003.
Maybe a Ltd edition WRX but no new panels.
Cheers,
Rob.

Well if there is no facelift in 03, then Subaru may dent there sales this year by releasing such a rumour.
One not so nice looking P1 & One very tasty looking STi there, is there a possibility of it also being the first to get the european PPP package on it? mmmm..

Is the P1 on standard suspension? It looks a lot lower than the STi. I think the STi needs a better-defined chin spoiler on the front.
I can see what people are saying about the colour, but isn't it the same paint on both of them? Same colour, same paint code? Perhaps the P1 owner hasn't polished it for a while...

No the P1 is Sonic Blue and the STi is WR Mica Blue AFAIK - no idea if the paint code is the same but they do look different. I dont think the paint/clealiness of the P1 does it any justice as normally they look pukka.

The STi WAS growing on me until I saw this comparison - the P1 looks way better - I've always thought that the new age impreza was a cross between a Fiesta and Neon...lookswise (flame suit on!!!)...
Maybe different story if seen on the road, but I know a P1 made me **** my pants when I saw it - unbelievable presence!

Gotta say the P1 still does it for me compared to the fugly.....But I am biased having a STi V5 Type-R.
Might be different if they bring out a STi V7 Type-R coupe, as I think the new shape would lend itself well to the 2 door look

I had a MY98 before my WRX I would not go back to an old model
It is sooooooo much better put together... I spent 4 years tring to get rid of rattles on my first one I gave up... The only thing that rattles on the new one is my teeth with the climate control on cold!!!
I have been in a P1 with full scoobysport system ans last week in an STI (running in so couldn't go above 5000 RPM) and IMHO the sti is a far better car.

Even more easily after seeing those pictures - the P1 looks gracious and evil at the same time. The WRX looks overweight, bulky - and as if someones hammered the bodywork out. It also doesnt have the same presence. Everyone Ive showed pictures too at work says the new WRX looks a lot uglier - they dont seem to like Imprezas as a whole but the WRX less so. However when they all see my mates P1 they often change their mind because theyve seen one in the flesh.
I was looking to get a WRX and talked myself into thinking they looked good even though everyong told me they looked terrible. I then saw a P1 and realised they were all right. Hence why I am now looking to buy a hand P1 instead.
Apologies if those are of your own car but each to their own I guess.

Was looking around a subaru dealer today and only the WRX in silver looks good enough for me to comtemplate buying. It had the 17" OZ P1 Wheels in Anthracite, UK300 headlight conversion and the UK300 rear spoiler and a diff front spoiler.

Sounds like P1Fanatic is a closet WRX fan to me!
I have done 35K miles in my modified MY99 and done several thousand miles in my mates P1 (when he is over sea's working) before the Sti came along and believe me the car may not have the smooth shark like lines of the P1, but boy oh boy, it is the way forward; You guys know it's true!
P1's are old hat my friend, see the light...
Good shout Davyboy; cards on the table everyone!
Prodrive Sti Type UK. (As posted above by RobD) First one ordered with and dispatched by Subaru UK. Picked up on 31st Jan, now done 1600 miles and it just get better and better and better and better....

I can't believe how dated the rear and sides of the P1 look.
Much prefer the agressive front end and happy shaped grille of the P1 though. Still most people are only going to see the back of the STi so what does it matter.
Nathan.

Hmm, you admit to not liking the STi rear but would still buy one. Seems to be far spread....not sure about/dont really like but Ill put up with the looks anyway. Sorry but I couldnt do that - as well as being the part a car has gotta look the part.
