Thank you to Scoobyclinic for speed of delivery of the new cage and for JRS Motorsport (Telford) for fitting in 2 days:
Tribute to the late, great and very much missed Colin:
Super cheapo mudflaps from Milsport:
Safety Devices cage from Scoobyclinic:
First in class at Loton Park on the 6th of April - only 3/10ths off my personal best time
Let us see what happens next weekend at Shelsley Walsh.
All comments (positive and negative) gratefully received - be kind.

A bit of a "Bodge" to fit the seat as it is very tight against the driver's door, so we took off the runners from the original STi seat:
Mounted these runners to the Sparco seat and re-fitted (seat is in a fixed position - i.e. bolted to the runners so that only short ***** like myselfy can drive the car):

Is the diagonal bar in the rear removable? Can you actually use the rear seats with this cage? (foaming up where neccessary)

Hmmmmmmm my cup of tea!!
Is the car driven on the road much? Reason Im asking is that I would like to fit and spray the same bolt in cage into my own car, fit 2x Prodrive Pro WRC seats and completely strip out the interior to replicate the rally look for shows.
Did the cage come from Demon Tweeks too? Do the brackets that require welding need to be attached by an approved motorsport centre / coach works?
Cheers,
Andy

Rear diagonal is fixed - we cut the top of the rear seat to allow the rear drop bars to be fitted.
One of the challenges in fitting the cage was to keep the interior trim in place, so I can stay in the roadgoing class in the various hill climb championships I am entered for.
No interior trim can be removed - hence the rear seat backs are still in place and have to remain so.
There is room for a little person behind the passenger seat - but I will have to add some more roll cage protection foam.
Not ideally suited for passengers.

Car is driven approximately 1500 miles per annum - keeps the insurance at a reasonable level (thanks to Gary @ Keith Michaels).
I ordered the cage from Adam @ Scoobyclinic and it was delivered to the guy who looks after the car (delivered within 48 hours ).
Anyone with decent mechanical kit would be able to fit - but I wanted it done by someone who knew what he was doing.
JRS in Telford are a small outfit, but are very much respected in Shropshire.

Wow.....a bench mark well & truely set here....
Great looking motor, the cage looks the dog's.....
My mirrors have got to go, my cheap WRC type mirrors which appear to have been named in-correctly prior to my purchase are absolute rubbish in comparison.
Great stuff.....see you on the hill soon

Thank You
Guys
Thank you for the positive comments - always appreciated when one (me) has spent 2 years to get the Impreza to this stage.
She is not the fastest, loudest, quickest Impreza on the hills, but (touchwood) has been reliable and is a real blast to drive.
Nothing beats being suited/booted/helmeted and strapped in on the start line
I am just enjoying owning a great car.
PS I will change the chrome bolts on the cage to some black ones when I can.

Hi Matt
Loton was very snowy at 7:00 a.m. - in fact I had great fun getting the Impreza out of the garage and onto the road.
335bhp + no traction control + no abs + frozen snow = sideways action
I will be at Shelsley 5th and 6th May.
After that, next date is Loton 18th May (Sunday) and class comprises:
Datsun 260Z
Porsche 924S
BMW Mini Cooper S
Subaru Impreza STi
Me
Ford Sierra Cosworth
The STi and Cossie are the car/driver combinations that may cause me an "issue".
Come over and say hello - I am car 31.
