Cool Project: Phoenix GC coupe, CF, JDM v.8 Pwr'd

I've been working on this chassis since Feb. 07. It's the final result of 8 years of plotting and planning, and 3 chassis worth of building, towards what I want to be one of the best Track/Street Classic Imprezas in the States. I wanted it to be different than the average GC, while still maintaining the Classic Impreza lines. It started life as a 1998 2.5RS (2.5L N/A). It's now powered by a complete Ver. 8 JDM STI Drivetrain. I'm planning on Taking it to the track in the next few weeks to shake it down and see what else I need to address in the near future. My ultimate goal is a reliable 400 WHP once I upgrade to the HKS GT2835 Twin-scroll. Here's a few shots of it so far.

Thumbs up Ask and you shall recieve! :D

Never! If there's a Subaru enthusist site, I try and get as may opinions as I can, I like to know what the Subaru Communities think of my Pet Project! I know there's more GC love outside of the States than in it.

Went to a Charity Car Show today, here's a few of my Friend's cars too. The White one is a full RHD Ver. II 555 STi conversion

\/ This was a LHD N/A car before, Full parts swap from a functional RHD car, Top notch swap!

This is just an example of the lengths I got to make my woman happy, Pick her up a 44 oz. Soda and balance it in the Flimsy stock cup holder down a busy road under construction!

Think Initial-D.

I'll be getting a CF Burn-Up Style Front lip soon!

If I hadn't wrecked my last project car, I may have had the funding to do some more extensive Chassis Prep like the Zen car and RCM's Gobbstopper. (two of my favorite cars of all time)
As I get more track time, I may get another shell and prep it following there outstanding examples. I have a few Friends that work wonders with metal, But here in the states, most people do Domestic muscle cars or other imports, I thinks there's only a handful of Turbo'd GC chassis in my State. So It's hard to verbally convey what I see in my head to what they do, and those cars are just about spot on with what I'd like to do, as far as Chassis prep. But that get's expensive since I have no Sponsors or any shop backing (But I'm working on it! )

Lightbulb Never! :p

I've been talking to my Girl about partially painting the doors to blend them in with the rest of the body.

And like he said, I'm not going to paint all the CF bits, and it basically is a 'cut n shut', as you call it.

I paid $1800 for a rolling shell, and did the rest myself. besides, painting the CF adds weight.

The only reason it has a decent paint job is I have a Friend that's a Professional Painted, and hooked it up. I was just going to rattlecan it flat black so it wouldn't get rusty. It's gonna be my Track car, so the paint is only going to get worse the more I track it, so I'm not too worried about it. I wanted it to look good from 50 feet (15 M) @ 50 MPH (80 KPH). Next color change I was thinking British Racing Green, maybe with some pearl or metal flake in it. Haven't seen too many Subi's in that color (at least here in the states)

Thanks though.

here's a clip of the dyno

244 WHP @ 10 psi, 91 oct. (No AVCS, WG boost)

I just wanted to make sure the A/F ratio was safe before the Track day on Saturday. It was nice and safe, running a little rich, leanest it got was 12:1 and it was only pushing 8 PSI there, so it's good to go! Going to pull the Dash and figure out the AVCS in the next few weeks. It's quite a bit down on power (as was to be expected), but it's running good and with the lower power, I'll be able to focus on getting a feel of the chassis before I turn up the wick.

I know alot of people don't like the exposed CF, but I think it help my coupe stand out in a crowd, similar to the Audi R8's sideblade. I was thinking about painting part of the door leaving a small portion exposed CF, but I can't find a design I like.

I am, for now. No real intentions to do much else exterior-wise, except the Burn-up style CF front lip.
Went to a Local Track day this past Saturday, Car performed awesome, even though it was only low boost, I was pulling away from everything out there in my class. It was really fun, and I can't wait to get some track wheels and sticky rubber mounted.

Here's a couple pictures from the event.

It's funny that you mention that, I'm trying to work it into my calender to find time to drop it off in the next few weeks/months to have the roof molded for just that purpose.

This thread inspired me to make a DIY front lip, And I have to say, I like the look for the cost. I'm still planning on getting a CF lip, But I think this will hold up the speed bumps and track curbs a little better.

Thanks!

I should have a CF lip soon, but probably not before the next track day (May 3rd-4th @ PIR). Seriously thinking about getting the remaining interior piece 'Flocked', It will help with glare and looks good too. I just have to find a company in the States that can do it.
I'm also still working on making some door cards, I will probably have those Flocked as well.

Here's a couple desert shots without a lip for future reference.
