Default Show me the difference between PFF7s and Replicas..............

Guys

Looking to buy 18" gunmetal alloys for my classic. Wanted to buy the genuine ones but they don't do them in gunmetal. As my car is Dark Blue Mica, I think it'll look better if it was gunmetal rather than silver.

Back to the point. Can some one please post pictures of genuine PFF7s and Replicas next to each other. Also, please state which brand of repplica it is as I know there are loads!!!

It'll be even better if the wheels are on a classic scoob!!!!!

I had 18" PFF7 replicas on my last Scoob, made by Dare but I'm afraid I don't know what the wheels were actually called. Pretty good replicas though!

Got my 18's from Midlands wheels... with Toyo tires...

Can't fault them for the money, and they still look good as new nearly 2 years on...

i think one of the main differences you'll find is weight of the wheels and the quality of the material they are made from. i had inovit redlines on my last classic. as already said, couldn't fault them for the price.

Was thinking of getting these on my Mica Red classic, not sure how they look. I have to admit the price is what has attracted me

Also need to say at this point also the ScoobySlammed your mota is beautiful mate

A couple of quick questions for you mate. I was gonna go for the 18's but i'm not sure what profile though plus later in the year i'll be going coilovers so probably dropping the front 30mm and the rear 40mm. Have you lowered your car at all and have you experienced any bumping etc.

Cheers mate

Another question guys,

Can you get the original Prodrive centre caps to fit the Inovit Redline Replicas??

Or is there an alternative like a Prodrive centre sticker of something ????

The Prodrive caps do fit but I decided not to go for them as I did not want pretend they were original PFF7's, you can get PD caps on ebay for about £20a set, the Inovit ones are pretty nice anywaya nd go really well.

From personal experience pay extra if you buy to get a better tyre than the toyo. The T1-r is better but i was very disappointed with the t1-s's that came with mine.

Now on F1's which are leaps and bounds ahead!

Not sure if you can see properly on the pic below but the genuine PFF7s have flowforming cast into the rim, with Prodrive cast into the other side. So you can fit the Prodrive badges but it's easy to tell they are not.... and then you just look like a cheapskate. Best leave the original badges on IMHO.

I had some replicas which never actually made into onto the car, seemed well made and looked good but the weight difference was very obvious too.

Tony.

I paid about £700 from Scooby parts for 18's wrapped in Yoko Parada for Inovits, PFF7's will prob set you back about £1250.

If that's the price of PFF7s with tyres then I personally would go with them for what you save. If you have to add tyres to that price, then the others look like a much better deal. Looks wise you can't really tell, but some people like to pay for the label...

Give Graham a ring :

Westgate Tyres. Mail Order Tyre Supplier.

Top bloke and excellent service , good price for the real PFF-7`s and Goodyear tyres aswell. Got mine from WGT and I highly recommend them. You may have seen them at the NBO last weekend.

I have the genuine PFF7s and from the pics of the fakes (I mean replicas) it looks like the genuine ones have more shape to them, also they will be lighter and stronger.

Cheers for the comment on the car... lol
Theres a few people on here running 18's with H&R 50mm lowering springs...
Seems a really nice drop, and supposed to still drive well...
My Type R is on standard STi suspension... Prodrive reps with Toyo 215/35/18's... they were £695 quid from Midlands wheels... Only reason I brought them was they clear my Brembos without the need for spacers...
I run 18's on my old UK turbo, with the help of coilovers had the wheels in the arches, and it never caught...
IMHO coilovers are a bad idea for road use...
Anyway back to the topic...

I can't see the point in spending extra £££ just for the real things... Look at the state of the roads, any wheel is subject to cracking, or buckleing... depends on the pot hole... lol
I've spent the money saved on buying wheels elsewhere...
These wheels and tire packages are a bargain...

GordonShek... type my username into the search... have a look through some of my posts... if you still can't find a pic which will do, let me know and I'll happily take some more of the car...

For some people on here though, Its gotta be the named stuff... lol
It's their money...

I think the main thing is weight and next is quality . pick up any prodrive wheel to a copy and there much much lighter .

And here are those exact same wheels that I bought off Daft Lad on mine..

Also, in response to some questions above, mine are also 18", on 215/35 tyres, lowered -50mm on H&R. No rubbing issues

I think it rubbed once when I had two toolboxes and a couple of people in the back, along with a passenger and myself (obviously) up front. But I'd say that wasn't a common thing, so under normal conditions they are fine
