I would love a cage in my scoob, but as an everyday driver I don't think my insurance company would like it.

Arer these cars everyday users & whats does your insurance say?

Shell's more or less stripped now. Any pointers on what i can do myself before sending it off for fitting? (and yes, i know theyre going to be shi**y jobs! ).

Regards,

I know some who wanted to insure his GTIR with a cage and it added a third to his premium. They REALLY dont like them.

I'd like one too but I have a young daughter and it would be more of a danger than a help to her in an accident.

My insurers had no probs with the 6 point cage, I simply said the car was used for Track Days. (Footman James) which is true.

Now with Competition Insurance and they are VERY liberal with attitude to mods, but you MUST have a current competition license to get it.

The point about danger to occupants in the car is very valid if they are in the back.

Graham.

Greenlight said there wouldn't be any extra charge for me, said it was a safety mod.
Can't argue with that.
It is (was) on a limited mileage policy if that made any difference.
Was still a grand mind !

Apologies about the website being down doug, when I had a garage clearout at easter I posted up a load of stuff with piccy's and my bandwidth was raped for weeks afterwards.
Haven't got round to grovelling to them to reinstate it yet.
I have got further than that with it, all back together and drivable (except for a fuel leak) which I'll be remedying tomorrow care of some free O rings from Crossroads.
I do have some work to do to the dash and it'll be going back to work in the next few days so I can work on it there.
Need to have the dash back out and cut it better to fit round the cage and also install yet more carbon £££

Tips wise I'd say leave it until the cage is in, then get a wide blunt chisel and have the sound deadening off cold, comes off nice and brittle when it's cold and only leaves a little residue that can be cleaned up with petrol and a rag.
The only things left on my shell when it went for cage install and paint were the suspension and wheels so it could be moved easily and the rear light clusters.
Every other single nut bolt and bit of glass was removed.
