No, its gone all fancy Health Clubs now (greens, virgin active, fitness first etc)
I used to love the first gym i trained at, proper bodybuilders gym. Loads of free weights and clunky machines.
There are a couple round where i live tbh, one is a gym i spent about 5 years training at before finances forced me put a halt on things (4 years later, still not back in the gym), i just aint got the money to train properly at the minute, and dont want to do things by halves.
Chief, do you train mate? Bodybuilding? Weightlifting?

Yeah, totally get what your saying.
When i used to compete a few years back (oh ****, just realised it will be 7 years this year since i last got on stage, **** me!) i used to go to the gym to train, thats all. No socialising while training, just proper all out, full on training, like you said, as if that training session was 'the one' which would get me the results i wanted.
My old gym is still there, still the same equipment, so when finances allow, i'll be back in there, and putting some serious weight back on.
Do you train Banny?

I started 6 years ago mainly to put weight on but in the last coupl of years, with the right diet and routine i have made decent progress.
I have set myself of entering a first timers show at some in the next couple of years, but it all depends on if i can pack on enough muscle to look good when i diet down.

How tall are you? and what do you weigh? and can you see your abs?
Just trying to gauge what sort of level your at. 6 years is a decent amount of time to have made some progress.
Are you training 'all by yourself'? Or given in to the powers of the dark side,If you know what i mean

Lol, i know the feeling.
I was foolish i suppose as i gave in to temptation at a very young age (16). But my life at that time was all bodybuilding. I was pretty well developed then anyway and knew i wanted to compete.
By the time i was 17 i was 15 1/2 stone, lol, and when i stopped in Sept of '02 at the age of 24 i was just a tad under 20!!
I would advise that if you arent wanting to compete, it aint worth doing, but if you are and are serious and commit a lot of time to it, and can be sensible with it also, you will be ok as long as you get advice from someone who knows what they are on about.
You sound liek you are fairly lean, which is an advantage cos you will have less of a tendancy to put fat on, but i know what you mean about it making it difficult to add wieght, but you know when you do put weight on, it will be good weight, not just water or fat.
This thread will probably get banned now, lol.

Danny I appreciate the advice and in this game you are always learning no matter what level you are at.
You sound like you was a monster!!
The gym owner is a very sound guy and has competed himself and his wife also competes, so i have a wealth of knowledge at my disposal. Just need to weigh up the pros and cons of it all.

Stick with it mate, there are loads of shows going off, NABBA and UKBFF (old EFBB as i only found out yesterday, lol) get yourself along to a few and gauge how you look against a first timers class.
