Did this tonight, this is what a quick squeeze looks like from the lights 
looking backward...

steady the first squirt and then to about 5krpm the second, starting off in second gear at about 2k. no big launch but still it just looks silly when looking in the mirrors everything just dissapears even when going easy with the load pedal...

Sausage muncher, but still very fast, 0-60 in under 3 secs, not bad for a mk1 golf, Audi Quattro 5cylinder turbo 600-700bhp
