Have a chat with Hales (ESC member) mate.

He chopped in his Black MY04 STi for a White MY02 Spec C.

Go on then

Still not 100% sure what model as the different options that were available has me confused.

Ive read the RA had DCCD and the Spec C didn't. Mine doesn't. Also no large water tank in the boot. Just a large one under the bonnet.
Also I read the Spec C came with the WRX 4 pots, Mine has Brembo's. Although I'm led to beleive this was an option.

I'm 90% sure mine is an RA not Spec C unless it lost a few bits.

I know they have a closed deck block IC spray and auto IC spray. No rear wiper unlike other JDM models. Lightweight Glass / panels.
8K rev limit instead of 7.3 or whatever the Euro ones are. Option of DCCD (I'm assuming)
HID headlights. Lack of soundproofing. No side skirts.

Also I think the Spec C has an oil cooler under the rear somewhere. Unless it's the later models I'm thinking of.

Hope some of this helped. I'm still confused and I've had it nearly a year LOL

i'm sure you'd get a lot more interest than just us 2 as well. stunning car. felt the same way about mine lately. am thinking of chopping it in for a family car and an rs turbo. but i might as well wait to find out about my payrise first.

if you're thinking of tuning it a bit you could always go for a 2.5 conversion

my06 would be nice but as you say cost a few £££. what cossie would you go for, another saph?

Dunno, maybe an escort, possible 3 door but theyre too lod now unless i find a full spec prepped one.

Went mapping again on the weekend and shes now running 322bhp/330lbsft.
Shes not fully mapped yet as we've a few more bits to tweek. Either way it will stay a 2ltr as i'd rather the revs.
Might look at doing some port work, headers, fuel reg and a TD05 20g.
That little lot should spice it up to around 380bhp

that'd be a nice spec. 322bhp is good already. i can fully recommend getting a set of equal length headers. the sound is amazing and people look to see what you're driving and then wonder why it's not making the scooby sound. the extra torque is impressive as well. pulls from much lower down. must admit i went to a decat dp at the same time.

i've seen a low milage, 2 owner rs 500 in black up for £12,500. tempted myself but the missus would kill me. have been offered a series 2 rst running 280 bhp with a hybrid engine for £1800. tempted to get that as i miss the easy repairs on the fords.

Lol at ford repairs.

Gonna port my stock headers first, then change to equal lengths later

i've got my old headers kicking round if you want to keep your car on the road while you have a set ported. then send the non ported set my way once you've got the sorted set on the car. i think they're the same on the classic to the bugeye aren't they?

Frayz,

My MY03 Standard (ie original exhaust etc except the STi Panel filter) is pushing a nice 318bhp 356lbs of torque, thats on the JDM map
If you want to speak to someone about modifying them, either Richard Bulmer who owns an MY02 Spec C or Dale from smacs whos Bugeye Spec C is pushing out just under 400bhp and 415lbs of torque
As for the differences between a type RA and a Spec C, there isnt any as they are the same car, though you have a motorsport version which isnt as well specced but does come with the DCCD.

If it puts your mind to rest, the S202 doesnt have a DCCD either though it does have the 12ltr water tank in the boot
The HID's really baffle me as Spec C's didnt come with those as standard and still dont, plus your underbonnet water res also baffles me as stated, type RA's have a 12ltr tank in the boot.
