Talking friday is the time for some choice mods part II

Ok a while back i had some few tweeks going on the car, but unfortunately a few things delayed me actually getting them done or even having the car to photograph them !! (like not having the car for a week )
But eventually got the time so here they are
love em to bits, not everyone's cup of tea but what the heck
(obviously the quick shift is not exactly photogenic )

The stuff to go on

The stuff on
Ninja exhaust

Strut and dumpvalve

Front discs

Rear discs

Front fog covers

Mudflaps

Trails
out of all the mods i have done to this car (and i have done a few believe me ), the quickshift has to be one the best, if not the
best
The reason..simple really, unlike some mods such as wheels, engine bolt'ons, interior/exterior styling, tints etc it all comes down to the fact that you are spending most of your time using the gearshift and so I think it is the best place to spend money but then i wonder why i didnt think about doing this before, because when you do it, you will wish you had done it ages ago.
There..did i sell the idea to you
oh and dont bother with any other inferior ones, get the B&M. i got mine from

ian, now you are just showing off
with your massive technical knowledge.
Q: what difference does a rear strut brace do?
Q: I know about drop links but what are ARB's???
Q: ALK??? alignment linkage to kettle? always licking kitkats?
Bumpsteer mod already got and you were the first man to tell what it did all those years ago !!

I thought when you got to forty, the old grey matter started crumbling

As much as it pains me to side with the bearded wonder, I feel I must.

Hi Ian

Get yourself down to Powerstation and get them to fit a Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear ARB, Whiteline solid droplinks all round and, if it needs it, get your geometry sorted. Might as well get some Eibachs fitted whilst you are there too, if the budget stretches.

Quickshift . . . . . what quickshift? These will make a real difference

thx for that comment mate, have worked hard to a) afford the mods and b)to keep the car as original as possible but just improve on a great car
There are other things i have in mind, but right now just enjoying the girl

7Foot and Ian (bearded wonder ) yeah i know that those things are the right things to do and as to emhasise the point, ian even dropped by the house to repeat the same comments.

They are the Scott Lowe ones

Mud flaps

I actually was about one of the first ones to get these flaps from scott nearly 18mths ago.The wife hated the thought of having them on, so they languished in the loft until now. As she's the ex wife now, out they came
They are very good quality and come with all the fixings, brackets etc.You can of course buy some sparco ones from halfrauds but do a search on here to see some of the problems guys have been having fitting them.
(though V5 man has some on his and they are the cheap imitation, bargain basement ones, just bought for a cruise type )
Not cheap but definately cheaper than subaru ones.

oh and as i will be getting loads of panel work, resprays done in the next 2 weeks, i think it wise to have them on before that get done !!

That's a great looking car Tony what more can I say than that

How do you find the front strut brace have you found it to have a difference under standard driving as well as higher speeds ?

mutual appreciation society !!

simon
the front strut brace has made some difference, but if i was deciding on what to spend my money i think you are doing very well. i mean its all personal choice at the end of the day, but i would do certain mods first and you have done some of them already
I think brakes (see mine for an example), handling (the drop links,ARB, ALK are examples) and mechanical /tyres are more important than any other cosmetic stuff.
I loved the quickshift and yet did other stuff before it, but that was my mistake.
I love the sti rear lights and the sti5 spoiler but everytime i was on the verge of doing them, i found more pressing things to do.
I love the look of your care mate, what engine, interior mods have you done. you certainly seem to have been busy mate

Thanks Tony.... basically I have done nothing under the bonnet as yet, I wanted to do the cosmetic side first... mine was looking tired when I got it but I knew that with some time and elbow grease it would come back to life.

I have a quick shift I picked up second hand but as yet I've not managed to get it fitted.... I'm not mechanically minded as such so wacking it with a rather large hammer sounds frightening to me but I am really looking forward to getting it sorted as everyone says how good they are.

I was in 2 minds about the Sti5 rear but then fell on a real one second hand so ended up grabbing it as not many genuine one's seem to appear.... now that I did fit and it was a nerve racking day

The only interior mod is the boost gauge and I put that in myself to... I was suprised how easy that was..... other than window tints all I'm doing at present is getting the inside valeted properly as the seats are a little grubby.

simon
just get a mate to fit the quick shift, pref a mate who has either access to a full ramp cos you dont want to try it with just jacks !!
have you got kids. if so get prepared for a lifetime of cleaning your interior
if not you lucky bar steward. just come back from 5 days away, with a trip to the coast up at Anglesey and came back with enough sand to make my own sand castle outside my house.

Next things for me are:
a near full respray (all on insurance as i have had a few knocks over the last 6 months), Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear ARB, Whiteline solid droplinks, ALK and full geometry check.Maybe a rear strut.
Then next year a few cosmetic presents from santa like front lip spoiler, tints, 22B vents. You have kindly given me some ideas as well.
Just dont park next to me cos i might try and get into the wrong scoob
