I'm sure there'll be a few of you with some better ones than this, but to get the ball rolling...
M1 northbound, between Sheffield and Barnsley, early Thursday evening. Relatively quiet, this Corsa was just sat in the middle lane but never mind that.
How the hell do people drive SO CLOSE to the wheel? Surely this restricts foot / leg movement? And one can only wonder at the consequences of the airbag going off!!!
Passed a woman in a Cavvy shortly afterwards who was weaving all over the place 'cos she was typing a fookin' text message!
BTW, photo taken from passenger seat, before anyone points out the obvious

Seat belt must have been at full tilt. I reckon if she'd have had more belt she'd have been even closer

Some of us have no choice about how close we sit to the steering wheel, I have to sit that close when I'm driving as I'm only 4"11 and any further away and i can't reach the pedals!!!!

My wife drives like that. I have told her of the consequences of the airbag going off, but to no avail. She's got a Merc CLK with the electric seats, and I have to hold the button down to move the seat backwards for about 30 seconds before I can get in and get my thighs under the wheel.
Still, it does have it's advantages. Even with the seat fully forward, she can't reach the pedals on the TVR so she can't drive it

ALl joking aside, surely if that woman was to crash and the airbag to go off wouldnt it cause severe chest/head injuries?
Im guessing not as otherwise there would be a minimum height requirement to drive a car and as far as im aware there isnt such a thing...

A few of you have commented about the consequences of the woman sitting that close to the steering wheel and what if the air bag goes off, sorry but whilst training with the London ambulance service I saw many RTA's involving driver & passenger airbags going off, still causing injuries to the face and chest and nearly all of them were sitting as far back as the seat goes.
So my comment is it does'nt matter how close or far away you sit from an airbag you still get injured

To a certain extent yes, BUT from an airbag no, more serious injuries are normally caused by the steering wheel/dashboard crushing the driver, BUT again these injuries can happen to a seated driver/passenger some distance away.

At least being so close she has no alternative but to feed the wheel - well, there isn't any room to move her elbows about

Whilst googling for similar images of crazy driving positions, it appears girls do like to drive close after all.
Sweet mother of jesus... type in eating and driving into google images - from page 5 it just goes downhill fast LOL
