Default Tried a new set of 18" Alloys... comments please

Hi Gang,
Well I managed to borrow a couple of 18" alloys this morning just to try on mine to see how they sat... quite a difference I think you will agree

Comments are welcome good or bad

Before...

After

This must be my favourite shot of the day

Bit different !!

This is better

Big Thanks to Kev and his donor car

Vortex fitted also

What a difference visually !!

What do you think then are 18" the way to go in the future ??

Cheers
Simon

What a difference an inch can make , much prefer the 18's they finish it off a treat.

Just a question, what suspension you running?, sit's really sweet, not to low almost a perfect gap round the whole wheel.

Thanks Guys.... yes they are -50mm H&R Springs in reality they dropped the car 20mm all around, it may have settled slightly more as I have not measured it since.

18" always make the car look nice with the correct ride height.
The main thing is how do they compare to the 17" in handling, steering etc.

By the way are you on standard shocks.

I'm on standard shocks and the ride with 17" on is very good indeed, I was expecting it to be stiffer than it is but I'm very pleased with it.
We just swapped 2 wheels this morning so I'm not able to tell how different the ride will be.

It would be interesting to know when you do eventually go to 18".
The H&R springs drop the car nicely over the wheels, especially on the fronts.
I am on 18" with eibach springs and they dont really drop that much. Plus my car seems to have a larger gap between the tyre & wheel arch on the fronts.
Yours looks more an even match drop front & rear.
How long have you had the springs on.
What it like currently when the cars fully loaded with passengers?
Any rubbing issues?

On 17" I have had no rubbing issues at all... from the homework that I did before buying the springs I don't expect a problem when I put 18" on either.... I have have 3 in the car without a concern also a couple of weeks back I had 5 bags of stone dust in the boot.... baring in mind that's right over the back wheels and again no problems with that.
If you want to grab a tape measure check the height out mine is from floor up centre of wheel the highest point in the arch 630mm on the front and 625mm on the rear.

Hope that helps
Simon

If you read through Carl's site he has used both Eibach and is now running H&R on 18" x 8 alloys.
