Should have thought that the body shop would have cleaned it before handing it back. I likes the front splitter though

They did...lol....just missed an awful lot of the polish when buffing. Had a chance to had a good look over it now and I cant say Im happy with the colour match. Guess its to be expected on an older car but not sure i can handle it so looks like i'll saving up for a full respray.

You have paid for something to be colour coded etc... and they should have matched it perfictly even if it in older car. the customer is ALWAYS right! Complain.

I didnt think you could get a perfect match on older paint, i dont think i've ever seen a car come out a bodyshop with what i call a perfect match. The diffficult bit is i know the person who done it which makes it harder to moan. They also doneme a deal to get rid of a rather high excess for me and to replace the parts with different ones that i chose etc..

If a perfect match is possible then i guess i may have to go back to them.

Cool

If you are not totalley happy with the paint you should take it back and get then to do the job properly after all they have been paid to do a proper job and i'm sure that if the shoe were on the other foot they would do the same !!

if the bodyshop is worth its salt, they shouldn't have let it go without it being spot on anyway......

AFAIK you can change the sahde just by the techniques used and the conditions etc etc so that may have a factor...not 100% tho...

Looks good, agree with everyone else though, go back to the bodyshop and ask them to reasses their opinion of the colour match, see if they agree that the shade is off. They may swear black is white and that the colour match is fine, but its got to be worth seeing what they say.

reputations are everything in this game, no company can afford to have a dis-satisfied customer.

IMO the fact they even left dry polish on the car makes me think it was a rush job to get it out of the door..............definitely not fair on you mate!

Well i have managed to get it back in, told them to take their time too. For anyone who is interested my list of faults is as follows :
  • Paint colour does not match rest of car.
  • Spoiler has two colours of green and a white patch on passenger side corner.
  • Spoiler paint is cracking on drivers side near the top.
  • Paint is thin on rear spoiler top and rear edge.
  • Door handles too dark and finish is orange peely.
  • Bonnet colour is too dark.
  • Crack in the paint in front of passenger side bonnet scoop.
  • Paintwork on bonnet mopped through in front of drivers side scoop.
  • Driver’s side scoop has chips in paint.
  • Driver’s side scoop has a scratchy finish.
  • Main bonnet sccop has white visible under front edge.
  • All scoops are a different colour from bonnet.
  • Bonnet has lots of little pits in it (small white dots/holes)
  • Splitter is too dark and between the splitter and bonnet, bumper stands out considerably.
  • Splitter needs a neat bead of sealant where it joins bumper to tidy it up.
  • Top few inches of wings need painting to blend in new paintwork on bonnet.
  • Grille is not fixed to car properly.
  • Headlights wired incorrectly (inner should only come on when high beam is on
and they do not adjust up and down when button in car is used, they are adjustable headlights, the switch for this is in the middle console between both seats.)

  • Overspray on fog light.
  • Mesh on front grille should be black.
  • Front bumper out of line on both sides.

was it an insurance funded job?

check with the Ins co of the potential of a complaint against the bodyshop.
If they will take action; let rip about how bad the bodyshop is and demand action..

IF it was personally funded;

How about a letter to the garage with photos and descriptions, and then one to the local trading standards or equivalent?

Failing that; Um, take some acquaintances in the paint trade with you, or send the boys round

I know for a fact u can get the paint spot on my mate did my puma for me new bumper spoiler, skirts an stuff. He take's either the petrol cap or somthing else off the car an then gets them to colour match it. I bet they just took ur colour code an sprayed it that colour, which u can't as the car will fade. Bring it straight back
