Written off for this? Watch out for SY03 YRR
First post on this bulletin board - thought some of you might like to see how easily a scooby can be written off. My missus got hit by someone who lost control and came over onto her side of the road, she swerved to avoid the head on and ended up down an embankment into trees. Aside from a huge scrape down one side and pushed in n/s front wheel, the o/s A pillar was bashed and tree scrapes down that side. There was no visible rippling in the roof but the B pillar on the o/s was well melled, you could say.
Norwich Union wrote it off after two weeks faffing about and gave us £14.2k.

I'll find out how to attach a picture in a minute

well to be fair, it sounds like a hefty battering the car has had, so is your point about how easily sumbody can crash into your car?
most cars would have been written off for that kind of damage?

What about getting your own quotes for the repair - insurance company pay you the write off price and you get reinsured. Just because they say it's a write off doesn't mean it is.
It's all about money and the bodyshops that insurance company's use basically take the feckin **** with their prices. I always get independent quotes (ok, only twice) but always come out on top.

Indeed, insurance approved repairer wanted nearly £1200 to repair my little arguement with the hedgerow a while back, got a local body shop to do it for just under £500 cash

I think it is well overdue that everyone gets their own quotes! That way the cost of insurance should come down instead of escalating to the ridiculous.
Insurance approved bodyshops? You should be ashamed!
