Thanks chaps! Yep, the state of the roads at the moment is causing me a mare, still these rally cars look good with dirt on them

I chickened out of white for mine, it's Crystal Grey (and I can't pick it up until Saturday).
I've had plenty of white cars in the past and it's a myth that they are difficult to keep clean. Maybe not as easy as silver or similar, but a heck of a lot easier than black or any dark colour.

Thanks for all the positive comments chaps! Yes it's a UK spec car, any others out there?
2 words of advice to anyone considering PPP.
Get it! After 2 yrs experience driving a non PPP 03 STi, the torque is staggering even below 4000 which is my limit at the mo. It's just so drivable.
Just got to get my head around this dccd thingymajig.....

Scooby-monster,lurvly looking car mate
I'm about to go a similar route as you,03(ppp) to 05(non ppp)tho.
apart from the power difference how does the new car compare?
...also my dealer intimated that the 'new' 05 PPP when/if available could be around the 320ps mark

Elmer,
Steering seems more direct with plenty of feel.
Still tramlines like my 03 did initially till the tires got nicely worn in. Although the new tires are very slippery in the wet (especially on delivery milage), everything feels so controlable and safe even when things do slip slightly.
The car gives a lot more confidence on fast sweeping bends, not sure if that's down to the steering or suspension revisions but probably both.
Interior is slightly more modern and the switches are more tactile and better quality. I also much prefer the steering wheel, not as plasticy as the 03.
Just did a 100 mile journey and with the temperature guage showing -2, I just switched the dccd to manual, rolled it to locked and cruised. The car was so easy and stable, no lane drifting! Much better on motorways than the 03, not just the twisties. No more dreaded "motorway bounce" either!
what colour you going for?
cheers,
Dan
Ps: I thought the PPP for the 05 was "all new", it was specifically developed for the 05. From the reviews I've been reading of it especially in this months Japanese Performance Mag it seems to be the business when up against the likes of MR340. The older PPP didn't quite get as favourable write ups I believe. Still I could be wrong

Looks very cool in white. Just come back from Oz where they are Subaru mad and white seems to be their favourite colour too. In fact I think your's is the first I've seen in the UK in white, might be a bugger to keep clean though.
Invest in a bucket, sponge and some Autoglym !!!

Dipster,
now that's the sort of advise I need. How much lock should I apply to stabilise things at speed, because it def seemed to work.
Told you this dccd was going to take a bit of work

when I finally get to collect my new car,I fully intend to leave it in auto and forget about it....,I ain't no hero driver
but,I have a question
as we all know the AWD system saps horsepower to drive all four wheels
so by switching the bias to either the front or rear wheels,is this reducing the transmission losses at all and therefore increasing the power output at the wheels?
...assuming that you can switch all your drive to either the front or rear wheels of course.

Jon,
Unfortunately it doesn't switch the drive fully forwards or backwards - you don't end up like a BMW or a fwd. It's 65/35% (rear / front) as standard and can adjust to 50/50% at full diff lock...
As for power sapping - it should be the same - you're stilll driving the same amount of bits (i.e. mass) around.
