Bill Gywnne Rally Day
Did the excellent Impreza Rally Day at Bill Gywnne today. What a laugh that was. Best day out in a car I think I've ever had. At the beginning of the day, you think you'll never get round. By the end, you're picking the lines correctly, pulling off handbrake turns If you get a chance, book yourself in - you won't regret it.
Got a few pics - didn't have a chance to take many as the weather was rough at times, but I think you get the idea. Many thanks to my instructor - Paul Alexander, who stopped me looking like a complete fool and actually managed to teach me something about car control. I've certainly got a lot more respect for rally drivers after today! Paul will be competing in the Rallye Sunseeker at the end of February incidently.

Good pics Chris.
I've done the Bill Gwynne thing a couple of times (both times in the Impreza), and really want to do it again soon .
I took some pics as well. Have a look here....

Nice pics Iain - better than mine! I'd love to do the day again - it was great. Perhaps we should do a group-buy for Scoobynet and get a discount!

Cheers Chris
I'd almost definitely be up for it (depending on when it was and cost). Last time I went it was arranged via the SIDC, and there was a bit of discount to be had (although that was a couple of years ago now). Might be worth investigating to see if they'll do the same for scoobynet...

Myself and a mate went to BGRS yesterday (9th April) and both did a full day in the GpN Impreza.
I've always wanted to drive on gravel and couldn't believe just how much fun it was. With a bit of a lift it didn't seem too hard to get the car sideways round flowing corners, as long as I kept in mind that I'm not Petter Solberg and didn't overdo the speed too much.
Had a bit more trouble with the handrake turns at the hairpins though. I did manage one perfect one, on a lap where I was really 'in the zone'. The rest were average to poor, though I didn't hit any trees!
Thanks to all at BGRS for an excellent day, especially our long-suffering instructor Peter Bennett.
I'd be well up for doing this again (as would my mate). Maybe if we can sort out a Scoobynet 'Group Buy' we could do the course at Walters Arena in Wales?
Here are a few pics I took.
Our first car, retired after 1 lap after a ham fisted gearchange (not me) disengaged something in the gearbox.
The replacement car, driven by me
Scott exiting the hairpin
Another one of Scott
Scotts girlfriend freaking out after finding I'd paid for a fast passenger lap for her.
