Default Anti GATSO plates???

We have all heard about anti gatso plates, sprays etc to blank out number plates for flash photography, but I was taking some photos in poor copnditions this afternoon and turned the flash on, and hey presto the reg number had gone. Does this generally happen or is there something special with the plates???

Looks like some airbrushing on the plate as well?

I am sure that the height of the Gatso flash plays a big part in making sure the plate isn't whited out.

Hmm,

You say you were taking photos in poor condition & then you say you will have to ask the owner if it has been airbrushed ?? Bit of a contridiction there

No, I said I will ask the owner of the car if there is anything special about the plates.
I have not touched the photo, I took it this afternoon as part of a series and on this one used the flash as the others were very dark.
It has not been airbrushed or touched up or anything, but you can only take my word for that. Otherwise

Double Birdie , not bad for a sunday.
Thats how they sell you the plates at shows, they get you to hold them at a distance & they take a Digi picture & show you the results, Still would you risk the challenge for 3 points..

Are you sure you have not Air brushed the picture ??? ONly kidding
Heres 1 back so you don't feel left out

Does anyone actually sell anti gatso plates that actually work?

In theory it should be possible using the same technique as those little crappy cards you used to get in cereal packets that change depending on what angle you look at them.

Thing is, as the copper overtakes you on the other side, the plate will disappear then come back and you'll get done. Wonder ifyou can make them work for only the left hand side, then you'll get done as you blast past the copper instead.

Probably not worth it. Go for LCD ones instead

Well i'm no expert but i just loaded the photo into Paint Shop Pro and zoomed right in on the number plate and i don't think the photo has been touched up.

The lip spoiler (and bumper ) are fine, thanks for fitting the lip spoiler and sorting out my bumper , just don't ask me about the drive home (5hrs for 200 miles)

it looks to me when you ( if you did ) selcted the number plate, the lasso tool had a feather on it which means p'shop vignette's the edge.

take another picture, to prove us wrong!

Explain the badly airbrushed left side of the plate where part of the text is still visible with airbrush marks cutting through it.

That is not part of the text on the left, it's part the Scooby Doo on the number plate

No links sorry, some were reviewed on ukspeedtrapguide.co.uk that just used LCD to go opaque, but the company has ceased trading.

Also, if stopped with having such things, reckon you could argue that you take the car to shows and dont want people photographing the numberplate in case it gets targetted by theives.

Wink

Not being funny but why the "bloody hell" would he lie about a number plate, I've taken pics of my car with a flash and it does whiteout the plate at certain angles and the feathering of white around the plate does indeed happen it's all to do with the reflective material in the plate ...try it and you'll see.

<RANDOM SILLY IDEA>
Is there a specific bit of law against having an invalid font, the penalty for which is a 7 day correction notice?

If so, I think I shall have my number plates made up using Wingdings

What's the point in having an anti-gatso front plate when gatso's are not allowed to take photo's of on coming cars....the flash supposedly distracts drivers?

They also have TRuvelo that photos the front and some GATSOs flash at you as you approach them (country roads).

"""the flash supposedly distracts drivers?""" I love that. Another stupid rule by the government.....dont you think when the driver coming towards you get flashed for speeding it distracts him and YOU who got a flash in the face. and he is speeding towards you looking over his shoulder swearing his head off, whilst you are seeing coloured lights it your eyes........dumb *****

As far as I am aware, Truvelo doesn't flash like the Gatso's. There are some forward facing Gatso's, but they use IR flashes that cannot be seen by the human eye. You definitely won't get flashed from in front by a camera carrying a regular flash unit.

MCN tested "anti" flash plates, apparently the police"reverse the negative"(dont ask me) and this then shows the plate detail (they printed a before(total whiteout) and after picture(numbers / letters clearly seen)

As for using false plates...Do you mean false as in incorrect size or false as in "played around" with the letters and numbers a bit?

False plates(as in altered numbers/letters) are the way to go in the speed camera crazed era,but never admit to using them...

Prosecution for fraud most probable and on re-offence be issued a "Q" plate for your vehicle and loads more..

Read my posts on the below thread on my thoughts.....
