Default When I Grow up, I want to be an STi...

Here are two pic's of my Scooby Sport. I have modified my rear end... not sure if I like the lights or not? Perhaps a bit too 'max power'. For sure if I could insure a STi, I would not modify it at all looks wise.

I just gave it its weekly 1/2 valet. Being new to scoobynet, can anyone tell me why my windows steam like buggery when its raining?? I rather suspect its to do with the rear lights as when I put the lexus lights in, i noticed there was barely any sealant around the originals at the top. Also Insurance...

I am 30yrs young
1 year no claims fully comp
1 TS10 (traffic signal) but that was FEB 2001

What do you think I should pay? I am currently paying a grand on the sport and it Thatcham 1 alam & imobilizer... 99T plate. If I could get a turbo insured for under a grand, I would upgrade.

Read a post about Liverpool Victoria not being fussy about mods, but when looking at the site, it said NO PERFORMANCE enhancing mods!! Is my exhaust not concidered performance enhancing. I use it for smuggling imigrants.

Bar the rear lights a tidy motor.......each to their own.

Yes Liverpool Victoria are mod friendly ie they will only charge you more if the raise the CC of the engine.

Currently with them missus main driver (29) me as second (26) with 4NCD - For MY00 PPP Turbo £860 Fully Comp with protected no claims.

Why not do an online qoute and see what figure you get?
Best of luck

Ashley

Do you mean the windows steam up when you are driving it? If so it's more than likely the re-circ switch needs sliding accross

I pay £400 ish for my 1.8GL seems a hell of a lot to pay for insurance! take no notice of L&V's website call them direct! i have 3 years no claims
as for the lights sorry but i do not like them ... if you wanted it to look like an STi then you should buy some STi rear lights IMO very nice looking and do wonders for your rear end

as for the steaming up i used to have a nova that did the same i cured the problem by buying some rainex fog stuff possibly called fogex? it worked a wonder and very quick and easy to apply
good luck

It sounds like u are paying well over the odds. If i were u i'd get some more quotes. In addition to L&V, Tesco are rated on here and u can get a quote online. Same goes for Elephant.co.uk.

Hope that helps

try Churchill, I admitted exhaust and said about 10% perormance boost, quite happy and didn't charge much more. Get a quote on-line first, then phone with the mods and insist on the on-line discount anyway, I got away with it!!

Okay Lexus lights... expensive experiment... Im not tryin to make the car look like an STi, what i am saying tho, is I modified the sport cos its a bit dull as standard. I dont want to pass it off as something else tho. I dont hide the fact its sport even if asked by someone who dont know scooby's.

I didnt pass my test until 99. Too many bad habits from practicing in my own car if you know what I mean. Even when I passed, I drove on my then wifes insurance cos she had been driving longer and we only had one car. I left her shortly after spending 13.5k on a 'Pug 307 2.0 HDI'... imagine the scoob I could be drivin!!!

My question was intended: what could I expect to pay. I have 3 points for going thru a red light but that was in Feb 2001. I dont have any no claims but Alan & Alan (my insurers) say they will give me 4yrs & up to 60% discount when up for renewal in 8wks. I was just going to start shoppin about now based on just one yrs no claims to see what I can get.

This is my first insurance on my own. The irony is, on my business insurance on my van (£800 F/C) I can drive any of my customers cars up to the value of £70k. Its Daft!

Phil

A lot will depend on your poscode as to whether you live in a high risk area! Younger people living in the sticks compared to olduns from the Bronx an all...
Get the STi rear clusters mate. Bet someone on here will have a spare set!
And regarding the steamin rear glass, I bet its your rear light clusters not completely sealed. If you do a search on here theres plenty of others who have experienced this!

Well mate you know full well I live in the bronx part of town, but the insurance didnt want to consider that no one will touch my car thru fear of being .... I'll not into it cos theyll take the thread off!!. Think im going to look for some STI lights cos I will damn sure get £140 for my lexus ones... their £200+ in the car mags.

Just saved 200 squid by going with Liverpool Victoria. Their quote included road rescue, homestart, protected no-claims, all of which were not included in my cover with Privilege this last yr.
My cover begins on Monday. Izzle to da fizzle baby!

paying £790 for insurance on my sport (22 1 yr no claims) with tesco.

not too keen on the lexus lights STI's are well nice , but i'm not a fan of the lexus rears on any car tbh... think the standard impreza rear lights are nicer looking any day of the week..
