Exclamation Be careful out there!!

Always check your tyres before a track day.

I changed the pads tonite as SIDC have a trackday at Knockhill on Saturday.

I was shocked to find this.

I saw the VERY same on my cousins (ChisG) Scoob with the very same tyres but 17's.

A common fault ?? might be worth chasing up ? I have pics of it too

TBH it looks to me as though that tyre is 6/12 months overdue a replacement.

I took a set of Toyo TS1 proxies around the GP circuit at silverstone, 45 min drive/emptied tank of petrol and the tyres held up fine, albiet rubber had migrated to he outside edges

You'd have been more shocked if someone else had discovered them and rewarded you with 6 points and a £2000 fine. Have you checked your oil or anything else in the last year

Thumbs up What the flip is going on here with SN!...

...someone posts a picture as a timely reminder to everyone else, and all of a sudden we are all do-gooders….Change your tyres a year ago m8……check your oil bla bla bla….Very good people!

From looking at the tyre, it appears to be delaminating slightly. Something that should not happen, even with the limited tread left....and from the constructive replies posted above, it would appear that other people have seen something similar before, which in turn tells me that the info shared is very relevant…..and somewhat worthwhile.

So well done Dougster and enjoy the trackday.

Very similar thing happened to a Toyo same size on my car recently, there was actually a hole on the inner side wall, seems a fault to me ( my tyre was a year old and 10k miles, far from shagged )

The pictures don't show how much tread is left (2mm through 80%)

I had a look prior to this and the delaminated area must have been on the ground.

I only noticed full extent when prepping car for the track. I just woder if all the 'experts' check their cars totally before every outing. My wagon doesn't get used much daily and has done about 150 miles since last track day.

So thanks for the relpies and I'm away to check the technical forums to find out how I check my oil levels

I'm sure you can all do this as well???
