wired for.................
neon!
The start of the ikkle Smart Car neon being fitted with neon is here.
Thanks to Phil at Ripspeed at Halfords for the free fitting of the power cap
all nicely fiited to a board and with 2x 4 output distributer block.. inc a negitive block too. kool thick power wire goes to a 60amp trip switch fuse in the footwell then power wire goes off to the battery which is under the passenger side footwell anyway.
5mm EL blue wire was placed round the front dash and i also fitted one of those Varad windscreen scanners too. Cr@p pic as i was loosing light!!
spent the rest of the evening fitting 2x12" Cathode/Neons under the dash (cathode with 32000 cd/m2 output for extra brightness )
also fitted 2x6" cathode/neon under the seats.. useda mix of Blue to the front of the seats and Red to the sides. this really lights up the Power Cap and Front foot weels really good. As you can see from the pic.. with all the tools in the wells.. it looks very bright. Just got to be careful not to smash the cathode tubes with mi foot LOL

Lee.
still thinking what to fit under the car 'Glow Job in a Box' at 2x53"+2x41" tubes is far too big. Might go for a Varad 1000 colour change LED kit 2x50"+2x28" FLAT tubes.. might go well... not got round to having a proper look at it yet. Theres a plastic floor pan all over the under side of the car, making it hard to get a good fixing. e'll see
'Minky' is all clean inside now btw
Huxley... you know you want some neon inside lol

Phil has done lots for the Scooby community and for scoobynet, sorting, events, meets and social gatherings.
He has also made a sideline selling Neons to those who want to buy them.
Some of us would like Phil to do well because he has earned that respect within this community.
Something which, as yet, you have not.
Cheers
Lee

Hi, Phil, liked your "glow job" EL sign. Hope you have better luck than me with your OEM suppliers. I ordered a sample neon and LED undercar sets each and the former arrived with two tubes DOA and one of the LED tube just cracked up uder me, so there goes my plan of going big into undercar glows for the time being.

having a few chav friends myself i am now fluent in chav and can now translate:
friend.. that is the greatest, most fantastic, super thing ever! If I were to see your car in the street I would praise those lovely neons. In fact I think I want to sell my car and buy some neons instead. And all those homosexuals who are abusing you can go away - neons are the greatest things ever.

Phil, they were from China. From the catalogs they sent me, most manufacturers are producing generic items nowadays, so it is a bit of a hassle sorting the quality ones from the backyard shops.
Had a look at the Iceled video. Have not been doing my research for more than half a year and it is now one generation ahead from multi-Leds tubes. Soon, you will have a moving image projected onto your rear screen via a LED projector.
I have the idea of having an EL panel under a transparent paint layer, so that at night when you switch on the EL, the car will take on a completely different color. But at the present price of EL panels, this is too expensive. Easier to just do backlit photo frames and advertising signs.

The best use of EL wire on a vehicle I've ever seen was a go kart, it had EL wire that made it look like one of the tanks from the 80's video game Battle Zone. Just to complete the picture it was being driven around the desert amongst some of the obsticals from the game, also lit up with EL wire. Can't stand seeing the stuff on the public highway, but I can't knock the creativity.
