Cool Just fitted Knocklink!

What do you think?

Thanks to Wuz for the fab group buy on these!

It's great what a bit of wire and solder can do

Definately!

Especially if your looking at tuning the engine.

There's a few stories on here about knocklinks saving engines

That looks well fittet. I'm looking for one to fit just like that.
Do you mind me asking how much it was and where to get it? Do you still have the OEM steering wheel? No Problems seeing the sensor?

Blackstar

The LED's are situated in the plastic column shroud, so still uses the OEM steering wheel (Nardi).

I did the conversion myself, the knocklink LED's are removed from the PCB and extended with wire. The original Knocklink box is hidden behind the dash.

If your a bit handy with a soldering iron, then it should take yu about 30 min to re-arrange the wiring and drill holes etc.

how did you secure the led's into the shroud?

I am planning my little project now, I think i'll use some kind of led surround seat thing, also i'm thinking of replacing the led's with my own ones so that I can leave the knocklink box intact and put a multipin connector on it

UHF

The LED's are attached by the wonder of a hot melt glue gun

They are very secure, but the lack of room makes things quite tight in there.

Default EH?

30 mins to convert!

you need to :

test it
remove cover plate
remove PCB board
desolder LED's
cut new wires (X10)
strip and tin them
solder onto PCB
test continuity on the wires to ensure no "dry joints"
feed wires through holes in KnockLink
solder on LED's
retest continuity again
full test of K/Link using sensor and box

Them you can call it finished!

All that in 1/2 an hour. I take 1 1/2 - 2 hours as they have to be right B4 I sent them out to customers. Your making me look slack

Wuz

I'd hardly call you slack

Obviously for my 30 min timing I'd didnt include setting up or testing the Knocklink on the car, but the removal and replacement of the LED's took about 30 min

Thanks again for all your efforts in the groupbuy, and I hope everyone that requested one has actually been arsed to pay up!!

Blackstar

Your Welcome mate!

That is a great idea Myk!

I've seen someone on here install it into the plastic blank strip next to the cup holder (on the newage models) and fancied doing the same...
Trouble is I am useless at soldering... so I'm gunna have to find a car elec expert?
Or do you think Halfords can cope.....

Think it possibly a little bit too much for the halfords monkeys

If you havent already got a knocklink, Wuz is doing a great group buy on them, plus if you speak to him nicely and cross his palm with beer tokens he should also be able to modify the LED's so you can remote mount them?

But best checking with Wuz on this one.

Failing that anyone who is a bit handy with a soldering iron can modify the LED's, doesnt need to be a car sparky.

Cheers Mike

I've PM'd Wuz about the Knocklink group buy (some people not paid, so may be a spare one or two going)

So it's just basically extending the LED contacts with wire... I'll prob give it a go...
