hi Mikee,
yeah, car sounds good and happy - runs well as far as pootling around at 3K rpm or less goes. it wasn't you in the little red car was it??? Clio or something? Ma and Pa had taken me to collect the car, I stopped at the Esso for them when they lost themselves in Chesterfield. I'm mean, how difficult is it to follow a bright red Subaru - especially one that's running in??? Mind you, they do drive a 1.4 Rover - good job my dad doesn't read Scoobynet eh? I'd have a duel on my hands after that comment
i don't need to drive in circles to run it in - actually went straight home and put it to bed early i will cover 200+ miles to work/footy and back throughout the week and am away in Newcastle this weekend for my birthday - so you guys can expect to see approx 600+ miles on the clock by next Monday!
with Xmas shopping still to do and Xmas visits I'm sure i'll have covered 1K by just around Xmas day. The really pleasing news(or perhaps not so from a financial perspective) from Kev is that despite Eibachs, uprated drop links and ARB's + anti-lift kit, he believes my suspension may not cope once we can light the engine up properly - better start saving again then eh!?
Cheers guys,
Kev
ps X, recognise the pic???

Marv,
right! it appears to have been an early WRX auto engine with no oil cooler and poorly assembled. we think the block was complete and had never been apart. there was no coolant/anti-freeze in it and the corrosion around the cylinder walls is there for all to see (and.. it certainly wasn't closed deck). the pistons, well, the are big and heavy - certainly not STi forged pistons as you'd expect in the alleged STi III block!
also, on the pistion which blew (at home now), you can see lots of wear at the bottom of the conrod where presumably the bottom end bearing operates. this indicates that it was probably a high mileage engine not capable of sustaining of reasonable power for long - hence bang! Kev still has it at the clinic, if your up there in the near future take a look. he too was suprised at the horses and torque we managed to extract from it.

Fookin' 'ell Kev - hope you're not disappointed with what you'll get from the STi engine then m8 coz I reckon you'll be getting about the same (unless you're having a few extras added??)

Marv,
The extras are already there I guess -
Fuel Pump
Adj. Fuel Reg
Induction
Exhaust
Map: to be re-remapped
The only additional extra planned for 23rd Dec is a huge TMIC, which flows 3 x volume of standard! So maybe we'll up the boost beyond the current 1.3 bar
I'll be going to Scooby-Si's John Noble RR day on 24th Jan to see the eventual results. Have you any more mods in the pipeline before then - you might want to come along?

Hi Dave,
Kahn RS-R 17's - 18's would be better. They are a bit battered now, but you don't notice from more than a few feet away. The design is simple making them easy to clean. I actually bought them before I bought the car
