carbon bonnets??

also have a bootlid, a rear spoiler, a front grill and some foglight covers . Its all American stuff, double sided, double skinned and fits like a stock factory item. Couldn't be happier, though im considering pure kevlar now

Siwrx,
Why pure Kevlar? Surely that wouldn't be as suited to a bonnent as carbon fibre reinforced plastic, as generallly, carbon fibres are much stiffer than Kevlar fibres. Kevlar fibres are very high strength, but thats not really so important for bonnets etc.
All imho of course...

kevlar is 20% stronger than Carbonfibre mate. Allows the bonnets to be lighter still and is available in yellow, orange, blue, red, black and green so you can have coloured bonnets. Quite funky looking really

Yeah, agreed, kevlar fibres are stronger than many 'carbon fibres', but its stiffness thats required in panels such as bonnets. Thats why structural components in aircraft and formular one cars are made from high-stiffness carbon fibre reinforced plastics.
What makes Kevlar different to high-strength carbon fibre is its high strain to failure value (2.3 % versus 1 %).

Young's Modulus (GPa) (i.e. stiffness)
High Modulus Carbon Fibre = 380
High Strength Carbon Fibre = 230
Kevlar =130
Tensile Strength(GPa) (i.e. how strong)
High Modulus Carbon Fibre = 2.4
High Strength Carbon Fibre = 3.4
Kevlar = 3.0

Sorry for being a bit an*l.
Edited to add that siwrx's bonnet does look extremely cool

I came across this post, I know it is a little old, but I figured I would add pics of my car. I have (or had) a carbon fiber hood with carbon scoops and vents, and I have a 22B replica wind with a carbon center section.

Its a cusco one and he got it from a mate and it aint cheap!
Bonnet pins are needed because the carbon bonnets are so light, they flap at high speed and could even fly off! lol
